Best surround speaker and position?

Hi Everyone,

I'm putting together a new surround system at our new house. I've got RTi A5's on order for the mains and I'm trying to determine the best solution for my surrounds. The previous owner had a surround system and he had a pair or dipole or bipole speakers installed. I can re-use the wiring that he installed, or move the speakers to a new location.

I've attached three pics showing the back of the room and the left and right walls at the back of the room. In the left and right pics you can see the wiring left by the previous owner a couple of feet from the ceiling. I think 7.1 is out because our couch is up against the back wall (moving it away from the wall or putting speakers in the hall aren't possible), so I'm planning on 5.1 for now.

It seems like putting the speakers where he had them (2-3 feet in front of the listening position) is a mistake, but I'm not sure. Given what you can see in the pics, where would you place the surrounds and what model of surrounds would you use? In ceiling is an option, although the ceiling is angled towards the front of the room.

Thanks!
