A friend gave me a couple rather large speakers last year. They were heavy as h*ll and difficult to get into the basement. They were in the original boxes.

The speakers are SDA SRS-2, walnut finish and they look great. I do not have the crossover cable.

Is there anything special that I need to know about these speakers. They are really to large for my tv room, but I can live with the size. Can I find a center speaker and any surrounds that will compliment these.

What is the minimun amp that I need to drive them, keeping in mind I will never be able to push these to there limits because of the size of the room.

Thanks

aj, those speakers are pretty much worthless and quite dangerous too! It's for the best if you ship them to me so that I can dispose of them in a safe and proper manner!:D JK, I just got a pair and can not believe how good they sound! You can substitute something else for the missing cable(try a search), they won't sound right without being interconnected, also make sure that your amp is a "common ground" type,if it isn't bad things will happen ! Give them lots of clean power and enjoy!! Good luck, Geoff:)

You can use a subwoofer cable terminated to rca jacks.
They need special placement and at least 250 wpc rms to sound good.

No they don't. I ran my SRS-2's for years with from as little as 30 watts per ch (triode tubes), to as much as 375 watts per ch (solid state), and everything in between. My best experiences with them were in the 30-60 watt range, tube AND solid state.

Place them parallel to the rear wall, and experiment with distance from the rear wall. Side walls, depending on the room, give them a little room to breathe.

What do you have? The best 'SDA' Polk ever made, in my opinion.

    Cheers,

    aj welcome to the forum
    Great speakers and congrats.
If you look in the for sale section you should see a great 3 channel Rotel amp for sale at a price that can't be beat. Carlos, the guy selling it is a class act too. Here http://www.polkaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?t=73337
Do a search of the forums and you'll find the info needed to make your own cable. I have seen aftermarket ones for sale on e-bay on occassion.
