My new IC......feel like a kid in a candy store

I just got a new "old" cd player in mint condition so I decided to get a new pair of IC for it. I was looking on the net and here locally and ran across these 1m pair for $20.00 on clearance. They are the LynxII by Luminous Audio. I set up a time last week to meet him at his office this morning at 10:30. When I arrived to meet Tim (the owner) he greeted me by name and invited me in. He had the IC ready to go for me which was nice since they don't normally sell anything from his office; they ship everything from his distribution center somewhere here in Richmond I guess. I took an old IC I had bought years ago from him with me because both of us were curious what older IC I actually had....I mentioned I had these during a phone conversation I had with him last week. I showed him the old IC and he told me they were prototypes he made when first starting out and he had not seen these in a really long time. Tim had a "moment" when looking at them and pulling them apart. He compared the old cables to ones he now sells for around $170.00. I am giving these to my son for use in his first system, he is very excited.

Anyway, I currently had Kimber Kable PBJ IC hooked up to my very modest system. I unhooked the PBJ IC and plugged in the LynxII. I started up a cd and sat back not expecting anything much since they were new and not burned in, plus they were very inexpensive. I put on Journey's greatest hits live (which I know like the back of my hand) and hit play. When Don't Stop Believin' started I sat back, closed my eyes, and I swear it was like I was listening to someone elses system. My first impression was WOW!! Everything was so much more clear, crisp, and detailed. Steve Perry's voice was amazing, very open and clear, like he was right there in front of me. One thing that stood out like crazy was the new bass I had. It was much deeper and tight/firm. I am not good at describing this stuff but let me tell you that I was amazed. Next I played Open Arms and heard things I previously had never heard before. I could accurately tell you where every musician was on the stage. It was like I was there in the first few rows at the concert.

Next I put in Nirvana's Nevermind cd by MFSL. I can say this in all honesty about every song on there, OMG!!!! Never have I heard it sound this good; the whole disc was amazingly detailed and spot on. For **** and giggles I put on Lord Of the Rings-Fellowship of the Rings cd and chose track 4-The treason Of Isengard and let er' play. Amazingling detailed and open sound and when it got to a little after 2 minutes in, the bass REALLY started going; was very deep and explosion like. I thought I was going to blow my 10b's up. I got up REALLY fast and looked at the woofers and radiator and they were not even being pushed. That is how much more low end I am getting now with all my settings in the neutral position and no boost of any kind added. The hairs on my arms were standing straight up as I sat back down and contined to listen. I finished out that piece and then put on the last track, May It Be, performed by Enya. Only one thing to say again, WOW!! Her voice was like that of an angel and I could listen to it all day long.

In conclusion, I cannot wait till these are burned in to see what they are really capable of. I am such a novice at all this that when I hear such drastic changes in overall musicality I am blown away. I was listening to a very expensive system a few days ago and I swear that my system that I put together for almost nothing sounds almost as good (need a little more imaging and better highs). Don't get me wrong, after I upgrade a bunch more I am sure that I will think this current setup is crap.

    +1

One of the Williams will be a long shortly to tell you that you are imagining all of it, etc. And that cables don;t matter and then he'll want you to prove it to HIM. All that matters is that you can hear a difference in cables and your system is better for it.

I am very much enjoying the improvements the used (new to me ) MIT speakers cables are making in my system. I can and do hear a difference and it's remarkable the changes good or bad cables can make.

I tried to share what I heard but being so new to this and not knowing the technical jargon it is kinda hard to express in words a "feeling". I guess in one word to describe my initial listening experience, "enveloping". If I think this sounds good I can only imagine what you guys/gals systems sound like since you have been switching out and tweaking your system for years. I wish I could say I am satisfied but this new little addition only made the "bug" worse, lol.;)

Hi all. Just picked up a cd player today and wanted some new IC for it. I was checking around where I live and saw this. For these prices I am going to try them out. I am in no way connected to this company at all, just thought you all might be interested in these because they are such a deal.

I was giddy like a school girl when a Polkie brought over a set of nice cables for me to try. I thought a cable was a cable previous to this experiment. Thanks Venom!

Wait a minute, I thought wire was wire and cables didn't make any difference in the sound of a system?

I gave this pair of IC to my son for his system. Also picked up a 200 cd changer for him on a trade. When he came home from school and went in his room he yelled, "DAD"!!!! I thought something was wrong for sure. He was just standing there mouth wide open and looking like he just crapped his pants, lol. He asked if it was for him and I said sure is.......only one condition though I said, take care of it. Man, this bug/addiction can be really fun sometimes.;)

You left out the part where you tied me up with, and were flogging me with the naughty cheap came in the box RCA's. I have not washed that dress since, but I still put it on sometimes to celebrate my cherry being popped that day:)

You were the first, but then came AQ, Kimber, WBT, Neutriks(just sounds dirty), and many others that I am ashamed to admit I plugged:eek:
