1st post here !!

Putting together home theatre for me & the kids.
Dedicated basement, finished with drop ceiling (about 7ft).
Viewing area is 12ft wide x 13ft deep. There is another 10ft behind
viewing area (will be used for kids area...not theater)

I'm in the planning stages, love planning.
46" lcd, and an onkyo receiver 606.

I've got questions about the differences between the
RM & VM series.

I'm thinking about VM10 for left and right, with a VM20 center.
I'm also thinking RM 30 for left - right & center.

price for the vm20 + 2 x VM10 = about $825
price for the RM30 x 3 = about $ 500

i plan on using the FXi3 for surrounds.

What other combo of VM / RM would you suggest for my L - R - C ??

Regards,
andrew

    Welcome to Club Polk Andy!

Not too many people here have heard the VM series so you may not get too many responses. I had an RM30 setup and liked the sound it produced in a 12x14 room for home theater applications.

I have not heard any of the VM series of speakers so I can not comment on a comparison. I dont know which series has the 'better quality' parts or quality of sound reproduction.

Good luck in gathering information though ... I know many have unsuccessfully tried to find out more about the VM series.

There are two VM series Demo Sticky's, check it out.

I do have the RM30's on the kids system, and am quit impressed with them. They sound absolutely great connected to a Denon 988 AVR. I couldn't pass on the deal on woot.com for $119 a speaker, bought 3 and use one as a center channel. Ordered the center grill and cradle direct from Polk for about $20 shipped.

Well, I've found the RM7300 (identical to RM30 except titanium color -
    confirmed with Polk today)
great price with 3 coming in at $379 + cheap ship.

and I've decided to use the RM8 for rear surrounds because the FXi3 are
just too large for my particular setup.

It seems that this price point is just too good to pass up and much much
cheaper than a VM series setup for L-R-C.

    Andy,

That's a really good deal, where did you find the RM7300's for that price? You will not be disapointed with that setup.

Just checked back at the website...and seems they're sold out!

    thanks again for everyone's input.

I'll let ya know how they sound.
