    Magic!
Actually, they're basically smaller (more narrow) cones that are connected at the dustcap and are used to reproduce the higher frequencies. It's "old school" style. The tend to be overlooked by modern speaker manufacturers. They usually aren't as accurate as a dedicated midrange or tweeter, but usually cover the range that is in the most sensitive hearing range. Paired with some cabinets that'll best benefit the lows and a super-tweeter (or piezo), you can basically omit the x-over and contribute most imaging and soudstaging to a single source. My single driver speaker sound great. The soundstage expands a little left to right, but the imaging, realism, and the tonal accuracy is the best I own for most music. There are x-overs and drivers out there that are time-aligned & phased arrayed to compenste for these inadequecies, but they cost much more than a piece of paper flappin' in the breeze.

Haroo: I love them and the new pics! Gimme specifics. What tweet are you using? Where'd you get the design? Have you been here?

    Haroo,

I like those cabinet things that you have the speakers mounted to. I can't tell if you put the speakers on that thing or if that's the way the speaker was built. Lemme know......

no really i saw the pic of some "little big horns" by-Carfea,and then thought wWOWw i want some ... ya' @ $15,000 (right)
then i picked up a uhf magazine and there they were,
i looked @the pic to get a feel of the size, the pic didnt help too much, but some sites on the net did.
1st- figured out the cut off (aprox 37hz{more like 45-35})
2nd-went lookin for wood(walmart had 100's of sheets of 3\4 find chipboard out in the big bin! FREE FREE FREE FREE :)
3- made template from press board(like hafe a heart)for the inside horn{used whats called the "archedimal spirel with tantrix equation)1+1=1,1+1+1=1 over1...
4 cut 4 pieces for the inner cabanet like hearts(aprox 135cm(h)-65cm(d)-35(w)
5roudered the edge 5\8 resess to acept the wiggle board(flexable plywood 1\8 )
6cut hole 18inch (graduating the spacing\1in on the frount... 3in on top... 6in @ back
DID I MENTION THAT THIS IS A WEEKEND PROJECT... THAT TAKES 6 MONTHS!!!!

7 built the iner hole from sono tube18in ,had to fit it with a filler on the frount so when instaled it would have a flat area for the sound waves @ the back of the driver, more or less a mdf triangle
8 rapped arbourite around the sono tube and triangle and glued with "bulldog PL 400"
9 set the hole in to the side "hearts" and glued
10 took the same template for the sides(heart shape) and cut 4 more but this time i left the bottom of the heart shape on ( big grave stones lookin' shapes)... with a hole :)...
11 rapped the wiggle board around the hearts starting from where the top of the mouth on the front around the top ,down the back to the "heal"... bottom of the horn mouth and PL 'ed and some 3\4in brads to hold it.
12 now they look oddly like human ears, hhmmmmm ears-- speakers--- music--- OK :)
    13 PL the sides to the forms(hearts)... they look likelarge tombstones with holes... and a sloped front{inturnal mouth}
14 filled all sides, joints, and surfaces with autobody filler
15 primed with 5 coats of laquer primer sealer(air spraied)
16 10-12 coats of black laquer, 600 carbide paper and 3m plastic pad wool, between each layer(piano finish)
17cut the hole in the front for the driver
18 built driver mount from 10/quarter red oak(65mm-340mm),with the mount, the driver chamber is 104mill deep
19PL the oak to the front of the cabenet and quarter round the edge w/ rouder
20 PL red oak strips to the front of the mouth
21 brushed on laquer varnish on to all the oak
22 roudered 5\8 shelf in the driver mount oak to set the driver into(sits flush w/ oak)
23 put plyable "rope calk" in to the mount, set driver in to it...
24 TEST RUN... SNIFF SNIFF the sound made me cry(audio nervana)
    25 let breakin for 50-75-hrs.
26 helped the highs out abit ,made oak blocks to hold tweeters(some old paradighm mkII tweeters thet i had kikin around)
27 needed a crossover, used a old "jennings lab" crossover i had,the values seemed to work! so i just wired it in
28 installed a little acoustic foam(egg creat) to smoth out the mid\bass a bit.
    my cost ,aprox $500 cdn
    driver: pioneer f\r B20FU20-51FW 60w
    tweeter: paradighm MKII 75w
    /:D :D:D:D
