I just couldn't stop myself.

Polk had some cherry flavored RTi8's on Ebay up for sale......

Have a web browser on the Verizon phone.....

They will be here next week.....

It's an illness at this point......

Guess I can have a RT55i vs RTi8 vs RTi6 shootout.

I'm writing the will for the wife now.....

I might live for another week.....

Gez, I started out looking for a simple 2ch upgrade. Now it's "Speaker City" at the house.

2 doors down from "Spatula City"

Switch them out with your other towers. I do this all the time with components . . . my girlfriend only sees the numbers, but has no idea what's in the cabinet.

LOL Polks, this is funny because you're leading right into my question I wanted to ask. I've been looking at the RTi8's myself (upgrading slowly to my first system from a pair of bose bookshelves). I actually watched the furious bidding go down at the end to see what they'd go for :)

I was gonna ask if there's any reason I should be concerned buying from the eBay dealership. I've looked around and some online sites seem to occassionally have deals on new RTi8's, but not lower than the eBay store.

I know they've got great reviews for service, and if the word on the street is the durability of the refurbished speakers is still top notch, I may be bidding on the next RTi*'s (also a surprise to my wife). I figured, she gets the spa, I get the speakers!

Too bad they are all lateral moves :D. It's a disease my man...........and you've got the symptoms.

I can't switch them out. I've only had bookshelves and stands the last 15 years.....

Lateral move? Maybe, but I hear the cherry finish is beautiful and should match the room perfectly. Got that going for me.

I'm way beyond having a wall of speakers (Been there, seen it, done it) and racks of equipment in sight, in my living area. That died at the last house..... It's like tatoo's.

I am perfectly happy with this level of speaker. You just got to work em over a little for each persons room acoustics.

Another Flower Mound member here. I'm not sure but think the only way you will know where people live is by their profile. Hey if it doesn't work out you can put them in my closet next to the VM-30 demos I have. I will tell my wife they are just another demo speaker ;).

You got to get the wife into the design thing of the drapes or furniture upgrade she's picking out to go with the cherry speakers. :D Gotta be thinking in more than 1 direction, dude.

Nothing wrong with that. I kinda like old GM performance myself.

I'm bidding on a couple of speakers right now listed for local pickup
in the DFW area. I've got a real problem if I win them.
I may have to hide a couple of things over at my son's apartment!
That will give me time to loose the other set I'm using now.

I have that problem with cables on ebay. I'll have my finger in 4-5 auctions hoping that I'll win just one...

    Got the speakers home today.....

She was in the office on a teleconference call.....

Quietly dragged them into one of the guest bedroom closets.....

It's 1am, shhh!!! DAMN that plastic wrap is frikkin noisey.....

WHOA MAMMY!, HOLY SHITZNITZ. & GREAT GOOGLY MOOGLY these boxes are GOOD LOOKIN!.....

They reek of hand rubbed oil or poly u. or some edible finish. YUMMY!.....

They must have used a grain filler on the veneer, they are smooth as a babys' behind.

No matter how much I like the Mods on the other speakers, I will find a way to make these better if the don't sound so great. Even swapping drivers or somesuch.

I think the Misses' will choose these over black in a heartbeat. No problemo. I think the cherry boxes would look even better with a silver cloth grill to match the silver front baffle. Maybe TieDie.....

PS: The new vette is the best looking affordable sports car to come out since my 300ZTT.

We need to have a locals Polk Party. Speakers? We don't need no stinking speakers! I have an assortment to drag around house to house.

    Repacking, Paul

I like the boxes. They are all class in a hardwood room.

Phssst. We've been married 18 years. We know each other well. Coolest chick in town.

SHE! used one of her bonus checks from Aetna back in 1990 to get a Pioneer Elite 50" big screen for us because I said Jimmy Johnson "will win super bowls for the cowboys. I promise" She love's friends, fun, buttshakin music and pro football. She's kicking me around like a pet pig in FFootball league.

Although she hasn't said a word, I am sure she is tired of me listening to the same music over and over for listening tests of the "Polk 90's to the OO's Generations of Speakers"

I've got to take a picture of the insanity. Including the JBL's I aquired on the cheap.

BTW: I will post a review of the 55. It was extremely hard to review with one stock XO and one recapped and a clogeed L eardrum. 2 differnt speakers. I like em recapped, short version. Some might not. F or Sat I will relisten with Both XO's capped, plus the other 2 sets.

Congrats on the new speakers. I'm sure it will all blow over.
My "EX" used to complain about the fish mounted on the wall. Then my speaker compulsive buying/listening disorder finished her off. She finally gave me the ultimatum that it "was her or the fish and speakers". I took my time making the decision. I had Lou Reed's "Rock and Roll Animal" on the TT and before the arm dropped on "Dark Side of the Moon" I had no choice but to tell her I couldn't help myself.
She dropped by a couple of years ago for a visit and the first thing out of her mouth was " I see you still have them damned fish". I replied, "Yep, told you they'd be here longer than you. Speakers too".
Problem I have now is the girl I'm seeing has got into audio, has a nice system, and always wanting to upgrade. I feel like a sober bartender dealing with a drunk.
IF you get the ultimatum, just don't make the mistake I made. I lost my health insurance and a good second income in the deal.

HB, all I can say, is, although I would not want a fish on my wall either, and try to keep speakers under control (with limited success), if that was the choice she gave you, I think you made the right choice, IMO, even if it did cost you a second income and health insurance. The money is rarely, if ever, worth it, as far as I am concerned.

Your new girl sounds like more fun!

Do what I did. I knew I wanted Plats and Carver Silver 9t's for my rig. I found the 9t's first, but didn't want to use them on my LSi9's. Bit much power for those babies. I just put the boxed amps back in my office room with a lot of other boxes stored in there. About a month later, I found a set of Plats. Brought 'em home, then got the amps out of the office. My wife asked "are those new too? You're spending way too much on this stereo stuff." I was able to tell her "no, these are just some old amps I had." I didn't lie because they were 20 years old, and I did have them.;)

Seriously, my wife is one cool chic. She just wants this final phase of collecting all the parts of a whole house gig to end. She is READY for me to get off my arz and start running cables all over the place.

    I'm ready too. 8^)
