Did a board-wash before I took the pics on these. Pre-pookie pics so you can see the wires. Pretty cramped under there and had to do some creative wire bends to avoid shorting. It does fit in the box. Note: the binding post leads are upside down and re-soldered. More under powered caps. (Especially in this case)

I do recommend replacing the resistors since you can match them with exact values and they are 250w speakers. I just forgot to order them. (1hr R&R job) More under powered caps 50v...(Especially in this case) Caps: .47 uf FF, 3.0uf MP, 9.0u MP, 16.0uf MP

How do you post more than 5 pics? Say for example you want to do a step-by-step process of this for other folks? Do I need to set-up a website or hopefully something simple. I suck at typing and computers. I only use mine for customer quotes, shopping and **** 8^)

My wife said she will help with picture taking if needed. She will be.

Wow! Does not look like a newbie job to me ... but most importantly, before going down that road (on four of them) how does it affect the sound?

Hey, no defeatist attitude. You or anybody else here can do this. These are simple AC curcuits. I already did the homework for you or for whoever wants to recharge their speakers by finding the vendors who have the exact values and dimensions to fit. (PE and Madisound) Soldering and wire bending is easier than you think. Square peg round hole. No brain surgery involved thank goodness. Patience and a steady hand.

I wish I had a DVD camcorder to video a verbal tutorial and burn copies for folks , to show all the small, simple tricks involved. That's hard to parlay with photos and my typing.

This job can be done with 3 screwdrivers, a soldering pencil, mini flat nose pliers, cutting dykes and some toothpicks. I have more tools than that but I use tools for all kinds of jobs around the house.

Let the pookie cure for another day and I will let you know how they sound. I'll even leave the other un-modded and compare.

I'm certainly not a defeatest! The wifey says I am almost scary fearless when it comes to breaking stuff up to fix it.

I look forward to reading about the listening test though ... I foresee a lot more typing in your future, and I know you don't like it!

It's true, though, what Polksaladanni says: they're built like a brick **** house, or a **** brick house, or a brit shick house, or whatever it was he said, they have a wide soundstage and can put out plenty of good sound ... but they have the tri-lam tweeters you don't like so much (they haven't really annoyed me as yet).

Those look like stock! Except for the huge caps of course; but great job. I also would be interested in your review of the sound.

Define stock.

Yes, the board is stock and the coils are stock and the resistors are stock because as I stated in the 1st post, I forgot to order the R's.

What would you do differently?
Were you expecting me to hand-etch a new board?

Hey Kex,
I follow my wife around with a toolbox fixin what she breaks....
The tweeter sounded fine to me before. It was the wandering of the sound from the bad cap.
The RTi6 silk tweeter is fatiging to me at loud volumes for a long period of time.

Read this about the SL1500 hard poly after the cap switch-out.

I believe Zingo was complementing the work, as in it looks well done, well enough to come from the factory (stock).

Board wash=HDepot laquer thinner or crc brakleen (percloretheleyne) cleans all the rosin and adhesive off.

I'm so uptight for the last 6 weeks I will probably just burst into flames.

Our company was with Merrill Lynch which started nose diving last year...

They sound nice but....

I thought I was going deaf in my left ear or something was wrong with the equipment or work.

I had a little earwax problem with my left ear. I have had builld-up problems for years. It was huge, and it takes another cleaning for the left overs.
