"If anyone can tell me one good thing about fame, I'd be very interested to hear it."
How about having enough money to do whatever the heck you want for the rest of your life, including not being in the spotlight!?!Political Correctness'.........defined

Don't forget about Custom Kitchens and Color TV's.
He also has quite a collection of vintage Ferrari's and Maserati's.I like speakers that are bigger than a small refrigerator but smaller than a big refrigerator:D -
I've read some articles over the years about Mark Knopfler because I am a fan of his music. He has always been consistent about being uncomfortable with the fame. The "Money for Nothing" song is actually about his anxiety with the fame he received. He has always been uncomfortable when openly complemented or worse treated almost like an icon for his guitar skills. He loves music and songwriting so hopefully some of his best work is still to come.:)Carl

Hmmmm....I always went with the song being about his despise for Prince, at least in part.Political Correctness'.........defined

Probably some truth in that Jesse. He may have see Prince as the anti-Christ compared to his own values. From the Mark Knopfler website"
"There remains another side to Mark Knopfler, a very private side. By the mid-80s Mark was being referred to by some as the "quiet man of rock and roll." He is shy by nature and gets embarrassed when fans tell him how much they have been affected by his songs and how his music has changed their lives. It is a matter of public record that Mark has been married three times. His second marriage produced his twin sons, Benji and Joseph, born in 1987, and his third marriage to Kitty Aldridge has been blessed with two daughters - Isabella, born in 1998, and Katya born in 2003. After almost thirty years at the top of his profession, Mark Knopfler remains, at heart, a family man who loves nothing better than to spend time with his wife and his children."
BTW, I think "Kill to Get Crimson" is an outstanding piece of music!Carl -

He did do a concert or two with Prince in 1988. Can't be too much cynicism.Carl -
Sorry, maybe a little cynical here but, which wife and which family?"Wish I didn't know now what I didn't know then." Bob Seger
