Hey all. I think Im finally going to get an amp for my rti150's. Im thinking about getting the emotiva xpa2 for them at 250 watts @8ohms or the xpa5 and bi amp them which would push 200 watts per each side of the speaker I believe. then use the 5th channel for my csi5.
Another question is they are supposed to be 8 ohm? But when I measure the resistance they show they are 4 with the bar connecting the top and bottom binding posts...... So where do they get the 8ohm from? If I take the gold bar that connectd the top and bottom posts then I get 4 ohm from the bottom posts and nothing from the top posts, on both speakers. I tried all the settings on my ohm meter still got nothing on the top posts....
Anyways....what would you all do, the xpa2 or xpa5 and bi amp?

I think you would enjoy the xpa2 for 250w @ 8 ohm without bi-amping them. They will take all the power you could feed them and as you know already they are not 8 ohm speakers. The RTi150 are more like 6 ohm but fall into ~4 ohm range so the this is why many people don't like these speakers they are known to kill any AVR ;)

But with a nice power amp they are beautiful will at least I love them.

thank you for the quick reply. I wonder why they claim to be 8ohm? Both of mine are closer to 5.2 ohms. Thats weird. So the xpa2 would probably push them really good. Maybe after i get the xpa2 ill get the xpa3 for my surrounds.

I been told must speakers today are not 8 ohm par say. More like 6 ohm, but been also told the RTi150's can dips very low. I think with the specs that amp has I believe those 150's will come alive. ;)

Let's know what you think after you get it together.

I just picked up a pair of these this week locally, man they really sound good, but im trying to drive them with my new yamaha rxv1900, 130w x7, I biamped them, and they really heat up the amp while playing them in 2 ch mode with loud music!!! HT is fine, but for music Im going to have to buy a seperate amp I guess? Its not over heating the yammy till the circuit protector shuts it down, but its just running way to hot.
