hook them up one at a time, and adjust them both to the same volume level.
then hook them both up and adjust the volume level in the AVR.
yes, I think it will be worth your time to hook them both up.

I have a similar question as I just bought a new sub (Velo SPL1200R) and still have my old one (JBL Sub12) sitting around. Thought about trying both but do not know how to do it. My Onk 875 has only one LFE. Can I use both? Would I use the L/R channels?MAIN: Polk Lsi9s; Polk PSW505; Lsic (in box); Onkyo SR-875; Parasound 2250; Cambridge Audio 740C; LG BD370

Get a Y splitter. (one male to 2 female) you will also need an additional subwoofer cable - but you should be good to go.
The only time I would not consider running an additional sub is if one FAR outclasses the other. (I did not run my polk PSW-350 with my SVS. All it could do is make the bass worse)Mains.............Polk LSi15 (Cherry)

It is not advised to run two different subs on the same system. Cancellations are your worst enemy among other things.......~ In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence. ~

treitz3, that's why you locate the subs in the same spot. Co-location is your friend with dual subs. Or if you had a pair of identical subs, you could run them stereo off the mains... but that's a whole other discussion.
That said, that Sony is handily outclassed by the Velodyne... so the original poster might just be making it sound worse. Sony subwoofers are usually pretty muddy sounding.Equipment list:
Onkyo TX-NR3010 9.2 AVR

Wow - thats the exact two subs I have. I use the JBL for casual music, and the Velodyne for serious HT duty.Do you hear that buzzing noise? -

Monster,
Haven't been using the JBL because the Velo is so awesome. I was looking for a musical sub and think I made a good choice going with the Velo. Do you have them on the same system? Are you using a Y cable like what was suggested to me above?MAIN: Polk Lsi9s; Polk PSW505; Lsic (in box); Onkyo SR-875; Parasound 2250; Cambridge Audio 740C; LG BD370

No, they are in different rooms. The JBL isn't a great sub by any stretch, but I didn't buy it to be a great sub - I bought it to fill in some low end for casual listening.
I haven't ever attempted running them together with a Y - it would be tight in my space-constrained HT room.Do you hear that buzzing noise?
