Actual bookshelf location considerations...

This is a spin off from a previous thread on a couple of bookshelf speakers. Specifically the R15/T15 and the R150. Since the R15/T15 has a front firing port, and the R150 has a rear firing port, would it make more sense to get a front firing port since these will be sitting in a bookshelf with a closed backside (still would have a couple inches before touching the rear of the shelf)? Or would it actually be better to have a rear firing port in this situation versus a front?

:) Yamaha YST-SW216 Sub
:) Sony DVPNC800H/B CD/DVD Player
:) Samsung LNT2653H LCD TV

I would probably get the front firing. The rear port may make it sound a little unbalanced - with mid-bass. Also, it will probably make everything else rattle on the cabinet.

Bookshelf is very sold, as is everything on it. No booming music here, just light to medium at best. I was able to test a couple speakers today namely the TSi-100 and the T15(R15) which were two speakers that I would consider to be very different. The TSi-100 was much better sounding than the T15(R15). I am not sure if I am willing to pay double what the T15(R15) is worth however, I am curious whether the R150 is somewhere in the middle between the T15(R15) and the TSi-100...

I would get the RTi6 - you can get them for $180/pair. Is that too much?

They charge approx $30 to ship, so final price for me is about $210. Those are excellent speakers, but too big for my application right now. They would be literally hanging off of my bookshelf. For the size room I have, those would be overkill.

RTiA1? Otherwise I would stick with the TSi line...
