Interesting choice of surrounds ... The Atrium surrounds, usually used for outdoor applications.

I got to love Polk's description of the Atrium's 'Uncle Sam WANTS you to have some Atrium speakers' ... LOL

    http://www.polkaudio.com/homeaudio/products/multiapplication/products/atrium45/

Sticking to the same series, for example RTi series, yields the best sound blending. The Atrium probably sound nice however might not blend quite as well as RTi4s, which I have seen on sale for $129-149 CAD lately, with your Rti10s. They go deeper as well in the frequency range 50hz compared to the 75hz of the Atriums. You would get some more depth of sound in your surround soundtrack. If you ever upgrade the surrounds you can always move the Atriums outside! for some sweet music on the patio or backyard which is more than most speakers can do when taken out of the main rig. Most speakers end up going in a box in the basement while the Atriums can go anywhere if space is limiting inside.

    Enjoy your setup.

From my experience, limited to Yamaha, Denon and harman/kardon, h/k works really well with Polk Audio. Good power from modest ratings with genuine (five channels driven) w/ch output specifications. The RTi10 is hard to drive though, according to some that have tried them, with those woofers. You are possibly asking a lot from the 330. You do have pre-outs though, so if you could find somebody with an external amplifier you could borrow, you might want to give it a try (for at least two or three channels) to see if you think it makes a significant improvement or not.

For crossover settings on the RTi10, I would not expect anything over 80Hz to be useful, and since the lower -3dB limit is 35Hz, I would try 40 or 60 to see which you prefer. Are you using a subwoofer with this?
    Alea jacta est!

    Q. Very nice setup. Pics?
    A. no pictures just now. But I could easily post some. ;)

    Q. How does it sound?
    A. Great! The depth is not as present as the RTi line however. That is to be expected. Even so, these four Atrium 45 seem to pair well with RTi10 in tone. Prior to these 45's, I had two R50 series and two Atrium 45 installed as surrounds. There is a marked improvement from switching to matching rears.

    Q. Are you using a subwoofer with this?
    A. No. I do have a subwoofer from Polk. Although the subwoofer is not in use.

Spacing and mounting placement is at a premium in my listening area. The small size of the speaker in comobation with the swivel mount bracket is what really makes this particular speaker so ideal for my room layout.

As an aside, some of you might be interested to know that not one of my speaker wires is dropped on the floor or tappered across the walls. Fact about it : all of the wires, except for the fronts and center, are rouoted up though the celings though gang boxes and conduit. The gang boxes are fitted with banana plug faceplates.

With no sub, I would set mains and center to large, rears to small with 100hz or 120hz crossover.

Try some other crossover settings to see what you like, but my starting point would be 120hz with a trial of one click above and below that setting to see if I like it any better.

    Enjoy the system,

    Michael

I bet that sounds real good for movies!!

If you wanted more out of your 2-channel, you could look to add an amp as I stated before.

If/when you look at subs, don't think you have to match to Polk.

Yes, it does sound nice. Depending on the movie of course.

As for crossover, I should set the rears to 120hz and the fronts to 40hz?
My reciever is a h/k avr330. Yep, a harmon kardon. Betcha never would have guessed that, huh? :p:rolleyes:

If you're not using a subwoofer, there should be no crossover ... there's nothing to crossover to! The crossover sets the frequency around which the signal will get switched from the speakers to the subwoofer, ergo, no subwoofer = no crossover.

Rears 120hz. Set the fronts to no crossover or large. (I would set the center to large as well, but you could cross it over at like 60hz if you wanted to....)
