Rant

You know the whole buying and selling on-line thing has me really irked lately. I'm specifically talking about CL, Audiogon, E-bay. Some are aware of my recent attempt to buy LSi 7's. That just didn't work in my favor but it did a sour taste in my mouth.

My recent issue with the LSi 7's I bought on e-bay was a buyers dream. The seller communicated and did exactly what they were supposed to do in an efficient timely manner. Kudos to him as he restored my faith.

My new rant is for sellers who list something but can't be bothered to send an e-mail response and sellers who can send you an invoice within an hour of auction ending expecting payment but can't send a quick e-mail about the status of said item after it's paid for.

It's common courtesy (as if I was in front you face to face) to answer questions and respond in a meaningful and prompt way. I recently bought MIT Terminator 2's on e-bay paid the guy Monday morning and have heard nothing from him about when they would be shipped.

He had 100% feedback and excellent comments. If you don't have time to respond about your item FS then you shouldn't put it up FS. Same thing with an amp on Audiogon. Sent several emails inquiring about the item; it sits unsold for 10 days and no response from the seller. RUDE, RUDE, RUDE.....

Ok I'm done.............ready for a Friday evening cocktail :D

I guess I expect everyone to respond like me. I'm very detail oriented and I wouldn't think of not communicating with a buyer before, during and after a sale or potential sale. If they send me payment I respond w/ "thanks I received your payment, your item will ship xxxx".

At the very least when something is shipped I expect a short response with tracking info. It's just annoying. I understand things come up, shipping centers are far away, I just hate no communication whatsoever.....argh!!

Nothing is more annoying than responding to and Audiogon ad on the first day and never hearing a response back. Nothing, nada, zilch, bupkiss. It like walking into a brick and morter store and asking a salesperson "is that for sale" or "how should I pay for that" and being totally ignored.

Lately I've only been buying from here (club Polk), AK and a few other audio forums. Online auction sites have become to risky lately.. so I agree H9. Sometimes it's not worth it anymore. I still sell on Ebay of course.

I check my ebay listings every day.. yes every day.. and I answer any questions the day they arrive. If i'm not going to be home for XX amount of days.. i don't list any **** to sell. Duh!!!

    That's my rant.

Yep, it's getting harder and harder to find good people to deal with.

I just bought an item off Audiogon described as 9/10. It arrived today with two scratches on the faceplate. I notify the seller and he acts like it's no big deal. Eff that, I'm getting my money refunded.

Yep, I put an offer in on an amp on the 'gon, but never received an answer. I keep just seeing that its pending. I see today that its sold, but they still haven't at least given me the courtesy of declining my offer, yet there it sits in my Pending taunting me.

Worse yet, I won an auction on the 'gon on Tuesday night and its still waiting for the seller to enter the shipping cost. Its Check or MO only so I can't even send payment until he provides this. How long am I supposed to wait? I've sent two gentle email reminders. I sent an email to Audiogon support about it as well and I haven't even heard from them. What the heck man.

Finally, the seller updated the shipping cost this afternoon (almost 4 days later). Damn man, he could have at least sent me an email or something to say he was delayed for some reason. Instead nothing.
H9, you're post couldn't have been more timely.;)

    F*ck it; I give up!!!!

Got my MIT Terminator II's today, just like promised. Packaged real nice. There are only 2 **** usable Iconn ends. The guy didn't tell me I would HAVE to buy new ends. Anyone know where I can get Iconn 'nanners cheap. They sell on e-bay and that maybe my best alternative. So here goes another $35 or more. They are completely unusable in their current form. I have 2 'nanners and 6 screw posts

WTF!!!!!! This is ridiculous. I sent him an e-mail telling him how disappointed I was that his description wasn't clear. I probably should have asked, but that's like asking if tires come on the car you buy. A car w/o tires is just as useless as these cables are to me right now.

Communication is pretty key in a deal. A person's ability to communicate promptly and clearly is definitely a key hallmark of a good transaction. If communication sucks then its a big warning sign.

I have a large sum of cash in the hands of a guy who was supposed to purchase and modify an Eoteric DV60 and I haven't heard from him in ~8 months. Not feeling all that great about that ;p

I am trying to buy a pair of RTA 11t's on CL and have e-mailed the seller everyday including a time right after they were listed. I have had other people contact them with my info and still no return communication at all.

    I don't get it.

Actually he's very receptive. At first he told me to box them and mail them back and he'd refund my money since I wasn't happy.

I told him I wanted to keep them but that I was disappointed they weren't exactly as described. I asked him if it was fair for him to pay at least 1/2 of the cost for new Iconn connectors. He told me he'd credit my paypal for the full amount $35 for me to get the connectors I wanted.

So, pending a $35 refund I am really happy even though I have to wait for the connectors to come.

H9 that's not to bad.. at least your seller is communcating and working with you to make you happy.
I too once bought a pair of speaker cables from another well known cable company that stats with an M... and it didn't come with connector ends.. the ends were expensive esp since I was using bi wires.. that's 8 connector ends.. never again.
