Hey all:

I live about 2 miles north of Vance AFB. They're having an open house and air show tomorrow. (Yeah, I'm suprised, too, after 9-11.) Anyway, the Thunderbirds are out there practicing right now and I got a couple pics to share. When they go over my house the ground literally shakes. They sure aren't anything like the training planes the noobs are usually flying.

These were taken 8 feet out my back door, basically looking straight up.

They're going to have all kinds of planes including a B2 Stealth. Glad I can watch it from here, there's supposed to be around 35000 people there.

Sounds like a good time to grab a beer and enjoy the show.......

I love me a good air show. Nothing like the noise those things make when they fly by. All the sports games I've been to in my life that's one of my favorite parts, when they do a flyover.
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

brett, why not just go and check it out? i love going when they come to town. parking is crazy, but manageable. take a friend and enjoy the planes and some sun. dunno if you have kids, but they would absolutely love going if you do.

That show came through here back in July. Was over 100,000 people and it sucked getting out of there after the show, but it was worth it. I agree with Bill, you should go to the AFB and watch the show. You will be able to get some really good pictures and the crowd is worth it.

IMO F16's are the best looking fighters, even more so in T Bird colours.Hard to believe it's a 30+ year old design as it still looks up to date.

Throw a paint job on a 707, 737, or 747, and you can park those alongside airliners/freighters that were built last week without showing their age. Classic Boeing airframes from the 50's and 60's.

I love air shows. I saw the Thunderbirds up in Burlington, VT a few years ago. Great show! They also had a F15, F18 and a B1 Bomber as well.

It was the only air show I've been to, of many, that had war protesters marching all over the place. Of course, this was the only air show that I have seen in VT. Even the protestors could not help but to watch as the F15 did a low altitude, 360 turn over the lake with full afterburner. Too cool!

    The sound of freedom. :D

The liberal Yankee snowbirds and Kalifornian's that move to Tucson have the gall to buy a house in the Davis-Monthan flight path(s) and then complain about the noise. Duh! What do you think happens at an AIR FORCE BASE!?!

they come to here (atlantic city) every year..its actually promoted as one of the biggest air shows in the states, called something like "Thunder by the Sea"...about 300,000 people crowd the beaches that day for an 8 hr show, other acts included

i enjoy the practice day with a cocktail in hand resting on the beach with 1/10 the crowd

The last aircraft I refueled in my career was an F-16C from the 177th Fighter Wing, New Jersey Air Guard, Atlantic City IAP, NJ.

Looks like F-16C models with the Pratt and Whitney F100-PW-220 engine.

I went with two of my kids two weeks ago... It was great. Hardly anybody there, we were front and center the whole time. Kids loved it too.

The F22 Raptor was cool! My boy was like "hey, it's Starscream!"

My favorite moment was the P51, F4, and F15 flying together... a very patriotic, nostalgic moment.

Seriously, got goosebumps when I saw them together... still gives me goosebumps when I look at the picture.
