You might want to hold off until the new Sunfire speakers [still under development] get launched. Bob has not had a speaker design like this since the Amazings and these will NOT be your typical speaker. The design is somewhat similar to what these are....but not quite.

    More information later.

As you may know, I own Emmy CS2s which are boxless. Love them to death. Best sound ever in my home. That being said, I want to try some even bigger boxless speakers. What made you choose ESL over something like Magnepan?

Anybody else care to weigh in?

What happened? Why the change to BIG boxes?

I actually have Emmy CS2s as well. I never purchased a new pair of ESLs despite being compelled to do so after my last Martin Logan demo.

    Why go back to boxes?

    1. Who doesn't get turned on by a 200 lb plus speaker?
    2. I want a wall of sound with bass. Boxes make more bass . . . more easy.
    3. I like the furniture like look.
    4. tons of ribbons and drivers sounds like fun.
    5. I just want to try new things.

The CS2's are pretty stunning Hawkeye, what amplification did you chose for them? if you went with Wyred amps, you might want to move up to using matching Musical Fidelity, Plinius, etc amps.

    Or.......
You could always move up to CS1's if you want to stay with Clayton Shaw's sound. though it will cost a pretty penny.

I guess I screwed that post up. I don't own the CS2. I was repeating what SS said about about a month ago and I got it twisted to sound like I had the CS2.

    Mike,
How do you think the Emmy's would compare to Tyler's Linbrook Signature speakers?

Not, sure about everything else, but spec wise the Emmys go lower in the bass region. The boxless sound of the Emmys typically sounds more like live music.
