SDA-1 Interconnect cable ?

Ok, so I just got on this site after googling "interconnect cable." I came into a pair of these speakers for free from an estate, and there is no interconnect cable. Probably opening myself up to mass criticism, thus the username, but what does the interconnect cable really do? I've never seen one before on other speakers.
I plugged these into my very basic Onkyo amp, and they didn't sound so good. Don't know if that is from the lack of interconnect cable, or if something else is amiss. The speakers seem to be in great shape otherwise...
Thanks in advance for any help, audiophiles.

The interconnect cable is required for the SDA speakers to function. Without it, only half your drivers are working. The connection is usually a pin and blade, or two blades. If you check which you have you can get further instructions.

I'll check it out when I get home. I think it is two blades, almost looks like a smaller wall outlet. Maybe I'll take a picture and check back later.

If the model is SDA 1 like you say, it will be a blade-blade interconnect cable. The speakers still play though without the interconnect, and should still sound good. Have you checked the health of all the drivers? Is there air leaks in the cabinet? Are there any loose connections between the drivers and crossovers? And as posted before, pictures always help.

i would first start with what zingo said.. checking all the speakers in each tower. you can do this by unscrewing one at a time.. and taking it out.. be sure to make the wires as which goes where.. then touching speaker wires to each speaker driver.. at low volume see if it's producing sound without it being scratchy.
good luck and ask any other questions you need help with.PolkFest 2012, who's going>?
