Y adapter from stereo amp to center channel?

tis a stupid question but i dont know the answer so here goes, can i use a y-adapter on a stereo amp to connect to my center channel speaker and if so is there any degradation of sound?

    Are you trying to make 3 channel stereo from a 2 channel rig?

    no, its a 5.1...i want to use a two channel amp for my center channel :)

    Ok, so you want to bi-amp your center. That would work fine.
