Technically, the A4's are supposed to go on the wall with (I think it's the tweeter? the side oposite the big speaker) facing the listener.

I decided to do a bit of a switch...I turned each speaker upside down, so that the big speaker is facing the listener instead of the little one.

I think it sounds better, but I could be very wrong...is that **** with my sound stage?

If not, would I need to change the bipole/dipole setting?

Wouldn't it have been easier to switch left for right to get the speakers on the side you prefer rather than flip them upside down?

    Just a thought..............

I think I was...slightly less sober at the time...but yes.

    The question still stands though!

The flexibility built into the FX line is simply to get the best of both worlds in one design. There isn't really a right or wrong way to set them up, since they were designed to meet both side/rear placement and bi/dipole needs. They were made flexible knowing that few rooms meet the ideal placement requirements.

If my memory serves me, the guidelines for side usage is generally slightly behind and above the listening position using them on dipole with the woofers pointing to the rear.

For rear mounting, the suggested is bipole with the woofers facing each other. Someone chime in and correct me if I'm mistaken, but that is how I recall my FXs working best in those positions too.

Having the woofers face each other sounds best in my room. Play with different positions and see which one sounds best.

    Thanks for the responses!

One question I forgot to ask...since I have my FXi4's upside down at the moment, does that effect the sound stage when it comes to where surround tracks are coming from? As compared to being right-side up I mean.
