I saw The Eagles at the United Center in Chicago last night on their Out of Eden (aka. Assisted Living Tour) Tour.

Holy crap can those guys still play. I hope they make a DVD of this one. "Out of Eden" was numbing and gave me goosebumps. They also played their normal list of concert songs as well as many of their new ones. The concert started shortly after 8:00 and we walked out of the stadium at 11:45..... Yea...They played a while. 2 Encores.

How can Joe Walsh get any better at the guitar? I don't know, but he played the hell out of that thing. Even a few Van Halen'ish licks.

Sound was ok.... No LSi's, but it was a good show. Can't wait to watch this one again in my living room (assuming they release a DVD)

I've got "Farewell Tour I" in while I do some work and just relised that the show I saw a couple weeks ago was almost the exact same show... with the same comments between songs and the same encore, but with some new songs thrown in. I'm not saying I got ripped off or anything. It was an awesome show to see live... I would just think that in a few years they could mix it up a little.

How are they going to mix it up? All they have is thier old hits + 1 new album from last year.

I would LOVE to see them once before they truly retire!

Well, I understand they only have a few new songs, but the "show" was exactly the same. Meaning that evenen the goofy comments between songs were the same, Joe Walsh did the "helmet cam" in the same song and everything, etc. They did the exact same encore.

I don't feel cheated, It just seems like they could have been a little more creative with the "show". know what I mean?

Being there was awesome! You should definately try to get tickets. They are headed your way in a few months!

It's been well documented over their entire career that they to play note for note of the original song. Very little deviation, very little improvisation. It doesn't surprise me one bit they even use the same tired in between song banter. They truly are a band for the most part going thru the motions.

As you know per our discussions a_mattison I'm not a big Eagles fan and this is part of the major reason why. I like bands that "put on" a show rather than play everything essentially note for note. That's one criticism I have for Rush. I finally saw them last year and I really don't need to see them again, very little would change.

Now if you listen to early Rush 1976-1979 on bootlegs.....WOW talk about a Tour De Force and pretty good improvisers even though the song structure was about the same.

LOL! This is PRECISELY why I love the Eagles! I HATE improvs of songs that I know so well. Half the time they turn out to be crap! Play it the way we are used to hearing it & I'm a happy camper!

Since they pretty much sell out all of thier concerts, they must be doing something right!
