Blew out a M3II speaker

I'm begining to think I've reached the lifetime use of my 15 yo Polks; both RM3000 drivers went earlier this month (waiting on replacements this week) and now this.
The M3II's had been the surrounds with the RM3000's up front; switched after the RM's crapped.
Playing music tonight when all of a sudden the left speaker (attached pic) was obviously gone. Unlike the RM drivers which went silent, the M3II "went" very rough & distorted. Right one wasn't the clearest in the world either.
Took the grills off; no signs of physical damage (holes, cracks, etc).
How do you open these speakers and what should I be looking for? Will this be another driver replacement (should I choose to do so; comtemplating upgrades)?
thanks.
