I have 2 10" kenwood db+ with the polkaudio c500.1 monoblock and i was wondering what gauge wire i should use. i currently have 10 gauge but i was also thinking about putting a capacitor in it. If i put in like a 8 gauge would that be good or should i go bigger? And if so do i need a new altinator for my car because i think it is stock.

with that much wattage ur alt is fine, even stock, a cap is a waste dont put one in. go with 4 gage.

Running power wire is a pain. You are likely to want to upgrade your system some time in the future. Go with 4 ga. It is large enough to allow another amp later on, still flexible enough to making routing the wire easier. Besides, connectors , accessories, firewall plugs, etc are readily available.
