My Question is: in the polk 1.2's There are a total of 8 bass drivers. I think I may have them on the wrong side or mixed 6503's on the same side as the 6511.I notice that today when I look on the back of them. Which side should be the 6511 or 6503. does it matter which side they are on. This may be a stupid question but I'm learning. You guys are the Pros..... I know I can call Ken. I called him yesterday concerning other issues.

thanks

The 6503's are on the insides (stereo), and the 6511's are on the outsides (dims).

You got me there. What are you calling outside as IN to the right and in side to the left. if that's the case I have them all wrong.

    Thanks

Say you are looking at the speakers. The left speaker should have the stereo driver (6503) on the inside or right side of the baffle and the Dimensional drivers (6511) on the outside or left side of the baffle. And then the reverse would apply for the right channel.

If you are looking at the speakers it should look like this:

    Left Speaker
    Right Speaker
    Dimensional (6511) o (6503) Stereo
    Stereo (6503) o (6511) Dimensional
    Dimensional (6511) o (6503) Stereo
    Stereo (6503) o (6511) Dimensional
    Dimensional (6511) o (6503) Stereo
    Stereo (6503) o (6511) Dimensional
    Dimensional (6511) o (6503) Stereo
    Stereo (6503) o (6511) Dimensional

Well here is my PM for others that may ask. This is all my opinion and may not be totally correct.

Although they look the same there are subtle differences. The drivers may disperse the sound more smoothly for a given frequency. Not to mention the crossover for the speakers and drivers have been optimized for each other. That being said I know from my own experience that the 6503 is a great stereo speaker but it gets muddy as a dimensional speaker were the mid frequencies seem much stronger. And I am sure this is true for the 6511 as well for the dimensional side.

If you mix and match the drivers it will probably sound somewhat weird. And you will loose some of the effect the speakers produce especially spatial sound (The SDA Effect). Not to mention the clarity the correct speakers can afford each other.

    6511's are 4 ohms, and 6503's are 8.
