Considering Mazda

Have 2 kids now and am looking at expanding a little in the vehicle department. Have been considering the Mazda 5 wagon/van for a while.
Does anyone own a Mazda 5 and care to share their opinions?
Does anyone have any experience with any other recent Mazda models?
I'm looking for any opinions or knowledge of overall build quality, reliability, performance, etc.
Thanks!

I have owned a few Mazda's over the years, my Uncles owned a Mazda dealership started by my Grandfather, so getting them at cost was great. and all were very reliable cars. I currently have a 1998 Mazda Prot

I have three separate friends who all bought Mazdas in the past 4 years, and all have been completely happy. The only complaint I've heard has been on tires wearing too fast, but.... big surprise with OEM tires being ****.If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

Might want to consider the Land Rover Range Rover. I hear there going for close to invoice now, just a hair over 70k

I could buy three Mazda 5 and have a little left over! -
A buddy of mine has a Mazda 5 and loves it. He's got a family of 4 and also uses it for a windshield repair business. He's put a ton of miles on it without anything other than regular maintenance being done, and it's holding up really well. No squeaks, rattles, or obvious wear and tear.
I must say that if I had to purchase a crossover vehicle it would be right at the top of my list.HT

I have a Mazda 6 and it's a great car."I did not slap you. I high-fived your face."

I test drove a Mazda 5 a couple of years ago. I thought it was a clever design, making a lot of use of the space available, and a great alternative to the bigger, more expensive, heavier (and sometimes thirsty) versions. I would advise a test drive before you decide though. I did find the seats a bit cramped and hard to sit on, especially in the rear (for adults) and the engine, IMHO, could only just get the job done, even when compared to our 115 HP VW 2003 Golf ... but then, I ended up with a Chrylser Town & Country rental (by mistake) recently, and the V6 3.3L engine in that thing was, if anything, less convincing IMO, not to mention a less polished interior (and I averaged only 22 MPG over 300 miles non city driving without ever even speeding by more than 5 MPH).
There aren't many choices in the compact minivan category here in the U.S.

I have had a 626 and 6, and both cars were solid and reliable. A few of my friends have the new 3, and they have been nothing but happy with those as well.

We bought a used 2008 Mazda 5 this last weekend. It seems like it will be a great car. Thanks for all the opinions and feedback!
