Hello Club Polk members !
(sorry for my bad english)
I'm planning my new audio system. I had some Klipsch plans  but now I'm sure that I will by some Polk products. I'll use them approximately 50/50 for HT(5.1)/Music (2.0).
I would buy these : lsi15 + lsi center + lsi fx surround + DSW PRO 500 SUBWOOFER
I read on many places that not so easy to drive these beautys.
I'm planning that I'll buy a Yamaha 663 for Pre/Pro and an Emotiva power amplifier.
My question is that what do you think, which would be better, to buy an UPA-7 and use the extra two channel for bi-amping, or should I choose XPA-5 ? Do I need the more power from XPA-5 or does the UPA-7 supplying enough power for Lsi's in my relatively small room (30-35 square meter) ?
Thank You

Welcome to Club Polk. I would recommend the 5 if you can swing it, but the 7 configured like you stated would be fine for most. Do you have neighbors? I would also recommend holding out for the Emo prepro. Can you give room dimension in feet like 12x16 feet?
BenPlease. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. Get the XPA-5.
I think you woiuld get better sound form the XPA-5 instead bi amping with UPA-7. Not to mention the XPA-5 is an all around bettter amp.
My votes for the XPA-5. And at 200wpc will have plenty of power to drive the Lsi's.
EDIT: Dang Ben. You beat me to it by a few seconds.:D
Cheers

Anyway, I'm not sure that Lsi 15 need an extra SUB.I would also recommend holding out for the Emo prepro. Can you give room dimension in feet like 12x16 feet? -
You should get the Emo pre/pro and then just trade with me
Personally, I would get the LSi9 and a sub since you do a lot of HT use. Don't just settle on the Polk sub though. There are a lot of others out there that are GREAT buys.Living Room:....................

Zone 2 (Workout Room):

Welcome Dmon. You should definately get the XPA-5. The more power you feed to the LSI's the better they sound. Biamping for the most part is useless since you are using the same power supply from the receiver. If you can spring for a prepro from the get go you will really be ahead of the game as far as upgrades go.
If you intend to watch movies, then yes you do need a sub.
Best of luck putting together your system. Keep us informed.Marantz AV-7705 PrePro, Classé 5 channel 200wpc Amp, Oppo 103 BluRay, Rotel RCD-1072 CDP, Sony XBR-49X800E TV, Polk S60 Main Speakers, Polk ES30 Center Channel, Polk S15 Surround Speakers SVS SB12-NSD x2 -

Lsi9 was my first polk plan, but I read some pro reviews and convinced myself that lsi15 would have better sound with music. Now I'm not sure.Don't just settle on the Polk sub though. There are a lot of others out there that are GREAT buys.
Do you have a better SUB advice in this pricerange ? -

I think you and nikolas812 are right and I should get XPA-5. In this scenario the biamping would be useless.
Thank Everybody all of your replies. -
Yes, having the sub the same brand is not needed at all.HT-- Denon avr-2808ci,Emotiva UPA-1s, RTi 10's, CSi A6, ERD-1 surrounds, Vizio P50, Yamaha yst-sw300, DVR hr21, 40g PS3, APC-h15

There are so many other good speakers also, but we have to choose one. And it's very difficult to choose the right one. Maybe I'm wrong, but I think it can help the sound if the whole speaker system come from one manufacturer, and from the same series. Maybe the SUB can be the exception.

I would spend a little more on the sub and get the LSi9's instead of the 15's......like the Velo DLS-4000R or the Klipsch RW-10d, etc. All I'm saying is to make sure you listen to the subs that compliment your types of music, etc. For movies your going to appreciate a really good sub.Living Room:....................

Zone 2 (Workout Room):

What do you think which sounds better in stereo ? Lsi15 without SUB or Lsi9 with SUB ? Are there real differences in the stage what they can produce ?

It depends what kind of music you listen to. LSi15's would be a good choice if you did a lot of jazz, blues, classical, etc. They have very accurate reproduction of sound and sound smooth. You will miss a little on the bottom end in HT. Now if you settle on a less expensive sub, it's most likely not going to be as musical as you may like. I'm sure it will fine during movies, but set up next to 9's, you may be a little disapponted...spend little extra and it will be musical and good foe the rumblings in HT.Living Room:....................

Zone 2 (Workout Room):

I would go with the 9's, and a good sub. Your room is 16x22 so the 15's really won't cut it.Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Lsi9 with a sub will sound much better than Lsi15 without sub.Living room

The XPA 5 is a great amp and so is the UPA 7, The specs for the UPA 7 are 5X 225 rms into 4 ohms, you don't think that would work ? What about a XPA 2 to run those 9's? The room is 10 x 12? I listen to a variety of music but, I like rock, are the 9's a good match?Main theater : Pan 54 G10, Onkyo 805, UPA 7, Carver TFM 45, Sony BDP 350, Polk SDA 2 s, Polk CSi A6, Polk RTi4 (X 4 ), Velo CHT 10 (X 2), APC H15.
