actually its a good looking install. i like the forward firing subs under the seat... i get the impression that this probably slams like a mother doesn't it?
tweeter in teh sail panel is a nice touch... i thought about getting mine in there, but i was vastly too lazy.
i'm only confused abotu one thing... how did you get the amps to stay upright against the back wall? the back sheetmetal is like "one ply" thick... aint it?
looks really good though... how are the mm components? u dig them?
have rears or did u not see the need for them? The Artist formerly known as PoweredByDodge -
no its thicker than 1 ply
its pretty thick
you cant push it in or anything
my bro has had an amp there for 5-6 yrs and hasnt had problems
plus it gave my drill a hard time when i was drilling
its an 18v craftsmen with brand new bits...
the only thing that i worried about when i put the tweeters in is how it would sound since its not facing me..its facing the dash
but i couldnt tell the difference
and if i put it facing me the tweeter would hang over if i surface mounted it and it would be to big if i flush mounted it
im going to hook up another 1 farad capacitor to the other amp even though it doesnt draw out that much power
but it makes everything look even and theyre not that much more and possibly another battery
you suggested a 1100 cc???
where do you find those things?
the biggest i could find was 900
the system is awesome
its loud and clear
but im having problems with my subs popping when they bump when i crank it
i think im going to send them back
the weird thing is theyre both doing it
but one is worse than the other
so i dont know
if i do send them back ill probably send them one at a time so ill have something bumping in my truck
the components are awesome
man theyre great
either that or ive been listening to those pos gm speakers so long that anything(even sony...well maybe not that far...) sounds good
lol
the rears are kenwood 4x6 xcelerons--the silver ones
i put them in a long time ago and to get to them is a pain in the **** b/c the way the panels are
you have to take like every panel in the extended part to get to them
so i wasnt trying to take all that apart...
if i ever get around to dynamating the truck ill get some pics
but i dont think i will cuz im not sure how long ill have this truck
if im lucky ill have a 97 z71 middle-late-early 2004-2005
ill dynamat that truck
well thanks for all the compliments
im proud:D

re- back sheetmetal - you're lucky, i've got one ply crap-o-la thin stuff... if i hadn't boarded up the back walls with 3/4 inch mdf then there'd be no way i could screw anything to the back wall at all.
re- popping subs - dude, thats why my friggin polk DX subs did... play "Eminem - Without me" and the bass "roll" (cuz its not just a bump, its a roll or series of bumps) just before "I created a monster, nobody wants to see Marshall no more they want shady i'm chopped liver" -- its in the first minute or so of the song... if your subs dont hit that TIGHTLY.. and i mean tight like they sound like speakers rather than farting, flapping, snapping, blowing out of their cases kind of thing... if they dont hit it tight, then the voice coils are going or the speakers are just goin to hell in general. That's how I knew my stuff was shot -- my girlfriend's piddily little 200 watt mtx 6000 subs played that note fine, but my 4 dx 12's off of 300 - 350 watts each couldn't handle it... i mean what the heck! that note should be "blub blub blub" with a hard "b" in there (well sorta.. if u heard the song you'll know)... if u're subs are goin bad then you'll hear it more like you feel the speakers are going to rip apart.
also -- it might be you have the bass boost cranked up too high (the punch gain on the amp at 40 hertz)--- anything more than like 6 db's is probably too much... i think u're dial on the RF's is like 0 to 18... so if its over a 1/3rd try crankin it down and see how that goes. cuz that could be it... if not -- follow the new trend in audio... be trendy and suave... like rico suave... hell... be like Trapped Under Ice and me... drive down to Texas and get some Image Dynamics IDQ's -- 450 rms and cheaper / sound as good if not better than momo's [more sensitive so they're louder on less power and they're PUNCHY as hell... a very good SQ sub that'lll hit clear up into the 120 hertz range] (I, like the loser I am, found this out AFTER I had bought my DX 12's.)
re- cap and batt - ya, another cap never hurt anybody... and looks are important.... i like the look of the fosgate caps (red one)... all i'd seen ebfore was the silver ones from hella-long ago.
As far as the battery goes... only one company that i know of made an 1100 cca, and i had THOUGHT they went out of business.... Globe International Batteries. They were shipping a truck load of Exide brand batteries to my area for like 7 years and then all of a sudden like 3 years ago, they stopped. And I couldn't find them anywhere, not even the internet. But then I walked into Napa Autoparts (www.napaautoparts.com or www.napaautomotive.com i think) big Exides in the corner rack... that was like 2 months ago... but they were only 875 CCA / 1100 CA... the old monster they made was like 1075 CCA / 1300 CA... it was about 2 inches wider than thebig 900 Die hard you see on the shelf today. Sad to say, i ahvent seen any of the 1075's on the shelf... i keep checkin every so often hopin they come back... but what i've realized probably happened is that when Globe went out of business they probably had to either sell their Exide contract or Exide had to find someone else to make their batteries... now the only guys I know who made an 875 is Interstate (I think)... Delco had an 850, now a 900... Energizer is a 900... so its gotta be Interstate buildilng those Exide batteries... in which case you might as well just get an Interstate Megatron 875... same damn battery but like 5-10 bucks cheaper. I really swear by the Energizers... they're cheaper than the Die Hard by 10 bucks and they have a slightly better warranty and they're the same size (900). Can't go wrong... Pep Boy's has em... prolly lotta other places too.The Artist formerly known as PoweredByDodge -
ok ill look into that
first im just going to get a new battery
im not sure what the one i have is now but i dont think its very good
im going to send kim an email asking him what i should do about those subs
what i really dont understand is that both of them are doing it
and the punch bass is all the way down
even the local certified momo dealer was puzzled
and he checked all the amp settings
since theyre firing into the seat, you can barely hear it in the cab unless youre playing it loud and theres not a lot of acoustics or singing going on but when i push the seat forward to show my friends you can really tell
i was told walmart sold a 1100ca, 900cc battery
im not sure what type or how much it is
my brother has a damn good battery but im not sure what it is/where he got it
he said he left his headlights on from about 10pm to 7 am got in the truck and started it
thanks for the info
