Hi guys,
I just acquired a set of KLH speakers, and I can't find out much info on them. Google yields absolutely no results. Anyway, I think they're from the early 90's. It's a pair of KLH PR 1230-E0 speakers. I can't remember the exact the specs on them (it does have the label on the back with all the details still, I can check and post them when I get home), but I was curious if anyone has had any experience with these guys or knows anything about them. If so, please post and impart your knowledge on me!

Anything KLH after about the mid 80's is firewood pal. Sad but true. Even the mid-80's wasn't anything to write home about with KLH. Maybe they'll work out as garage speaks.

Single or double digit model numbers is where it's at for decent vintage KLH.

I'm not expecting much, but hey, they were free! How could I say no?

If you need firewood, they'll burn just fine.

Dig a pit in the backyard. You can toss my KLH's in also.

Will do. Might not be for a day or two before I get them hooked up though.

In case anyone was wondering, George was right. These things are definitely not up to snuff: muddy/loose bass, muffled mids, and almost non existent highs. The speakers have a 12'' woofer, but it sounds like maybe a 3" woofer (does that even exist?!). The mids seem to be the strongest feature (I use this term loosely), but dialogue is still uncentered and muted. I don't really consider myself a connoisseur of sound, but I can tell the difference between quality and junk, and these fall into the later category without a doubt.

I compared them in an A/B setup next to the RTi A5's. There is no comparison. I was actually thinking they would make nice birdhouses for that oak tree in the backyard...

I was not really expecting much from these, but even with very low expectations, I was still disappointed. If I had spent money on these, I would shooting myself in the foot right about now.

Fill them up with sand and use them as anchors if you have a boat.
