A Rotel RCD-02 can usually be had at that pricepoint. I'd say it offers about 90% of the performance of its more esteemed brother (the RCD-1072), but at about half the price.
I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore

I have a Cambridge Audio D500SE that I haven't used in a while. There are lots of reviews over the net about this CDP. I have the box, maual and remote. $175 shipped. Let me know if you are interested. I can post or send pictures.

Don't know if you're still looking, but I have a NAD 5440 that's in very good shape for its age. No remote, box nor manual. Will pack it very well so the shipping gorillas won't distroy. Only $50 plus shipping. I have pix if you like.

    Cheers!

    Morning Andy,
I'd been using an old Denon Alpha in my "Test" system and it finally "gave up the ghost" friday. I picked up a used Denon DCD-570 single disc with remote, box, & manuals from a friend for $30 that's doing the job right now. It's not bad. 20bit-8 times oversampling. I thought it was a good price for a "decent" cdp.
STILL Looking for a quality cdp. I'm a little picky if I spend a couple hundred bucks on a used cdp. I'd like to find another ShengYa tube HDCD cdp in good shape for a couple hundred bucks. I'd buy another Jolida upgraded if I could find one with a very good price. Holidays, birthdays, etc coming up so I should watch my money right now.
Got something in mind for me?
    Thanks,
    Harry

    $325.00 shipped

Check out that Denon DVD-3910 on e-bay right now. It is silver and looks sweet.
I got my Denon DVD-2800II for a steal on e-bay (~$60). Also had a Pioneer Elite DV-37 that was great.
If I were you, I would invest in one of these older top end DVD players to use as a CD player for now.
That way in the future if you want to spend more money on a quality high dollar CD player, you will have a DVD player to give to the kids, family or friends.;)

its cool, everyone has to budget and I do like having the Consanance around as a spare.

The Denon and Pioneer models are nice, I have both a denon 2900 and a pioneer dv47ai, they both have nice dacs and do justice to music through the analog outs, both are above average for sacd.

    Thanks Rich,
I won't be able to keep it if I do get it. Andy(Ajcllc) will hound me to death for it. I won't get any sleep, my emails will be full, and my phone will ring off the hook until batteries die by the case. Andy has been wanting one of the older models with the HDCD tube face for a couple of years now.
I'll bet you think your Preacher can be a pest! Andy is my preacher (or as close as I'll have) but when he wants something he will find a way to get it if it kills him. OR ME!!!
    LOL!! Just kidding buddy.
Thank you. I'd love to have another one. Especially one that's a year or so old.
I look forward to finding out.
    My thanks and appreciation.

I just noticed a couple of posted offers I didn't see before. I do NOT receive any notifications through the forum. ALL THE APPROPRIATE BOXES ARE CHECKED before I start something else here.
I'm not "into" DVD players for a cdp. There are some quality dvd players but I'll stick to the cdp for now. I've got the Denon 2900 and it's a good dvd player but there's just something "missing?" possibly. Probably just me. The OPPO is a very good dvd player. Honestly though to me it's lacking as a quality cdp though sounding better than the run of the mill cdp by a long shot. Very good for the money. I REALLY like the Cambridge 640. I had two. Unfortunately both had issues and were a PIA when all was said and done. I haven't tried any of the newer/better NAD. I'm hearing and reading good things about them and will have to give them a try. I've got a good friend about a mile from me that has a newer high dollar one I'll have to check out now. Our schedules have made it difficult to get together though. The Rotel RCD-02 looks interesting. I run a lot of horn speakers though and some of the reviews say there may be a top end quirk. Still, I'd love to give one of them a good listen on horns.
I do lean towards the ShengYa. Not perfect but I've found a couple of tubes for the 6922 that match very good with my present system and I'm familiar with their characteristics and faults. Mostly build quality which has turned out to be ground soldering issues. Easy fix for me. The analog side is very nice and they're a good heavy unit not prone to vibration distortion in my little room.
What ever I get I have to dig deep into my "audio pocket" or sell something I've got now so I can get it. I'm setting up another 2ch set up so I'm spending a lot of money here close to the holidays. I'm having a new amp built, I just bought a new Juicy Music tube pre, spent almost $300 on new cables, and have very recently dove into the SDA world.
This maybe doesn't seem like much to some but I'm a single full time dad of an 8 year old son, help my two older boys out who are in the military (Iraq) and have families of their own, and help my mom with a little each month to suppliment her SS and 401k. I'm not "strained" so much but more cautious than anything but I certainly have to look for my best value when possible.
I do appreciate these offers and I'm still looking/considering them.
    Thanks
    Harry

Thank you for thinking of me. I'll come across a good cdp soon I'm sure. I could just be too picky.
