Back from a break

Hey everyone!

I'm back from a very needed and unscheduled break. Things at home took a sudden turn for the downside and I needed to resolve them IMMEDIATELY! It sucks BAD when the home life takes a dive!

I had been holding out over the past several years to buy a home in hopes that the market would crash. No way could i see spending that kind of money on overinflated home prices! Obviously, the market crashed. I still held out feeling prices would keep dropping. Yep, they did.

When the home life took a dive, I wanted out fast. I initially looked at an apartment, until a friend screamed at me asking if I was insane. "Buy a damn house" he said. I woke up and started my quest. I dicked around for weeks looking, but never got serious enough to get qualified.

Now it gets interesting. A former coworker calls me asking if I would think about coming over to the company he works for and working with him. I turned him down, but got a call 2 days later from him saying "My boss made me call you back asking to have lunch with us. Will you?"

OH F*** YEAH I WILL!

I had lunch on a Friday with them, interviewed the following Thursday and had an offer telephone call the following morning at 9am. They gave me every penny I asked for! 2 hours later I was on the phone with a mortgage loan officer and was approved about 3 hours after that. It really pays to have a healthy credit score!

I found a real estate agent, went out looking seriously and the 5th house we looked at, I grabbed! I found a total gem that was well below what I qualified for and in outstanding shape! I got almost exactly what I was looking for at the price I wanted to pay. PERFECT! I love the deck on the back that overlooks the water.

The first time homebuyers programs are major sweetness. It's such a great time right now to buy, especially if it's a first home! If you've been holding out, stop and buy NOW!

I will NOT be attending Polk Fest because I will be busy at settlement on my first home. Yep, it falls on October 17th. I'll be moving in all weekend and getting settled. So, you freaks have fun and try not to eff up this city any more than it already is!

So, the new job is great, I have a home on the way and life is grand again...until some other **** comes along. But, that is life!
No excuses!

Congrats! It's nice to start paying YOUR mortgage, instead of someone elses!

Thanks everyone! Yes, it is exciting times with the new job and house on the way.

With the job, it took me all of a millisecond after the offer was made to accept it. Besides the benefits that includes tuition reimbursement and profit sharing (not stock, but cold hard cash thrown into your 401k), no way was I going to turn down a 20% increase in salary.

The house adventure is going great! Tons of paperwork of course, but it's all going smoothly. I've lost a bit of sleep over the weeks just lying there thinking if everything is covered. My real estate agent is awesome and is really on top of things. I've been tossing **** that I have no business keeping (stupid pack rat syndrome) and packing up all non essential stuff. The next 3 weekends (and week nights in between) will be busy with packing packing and packing.

Doro, next time I see you online, i'm fraggin your **** ****!

F1Nut, yeah, another BS excuse not to attend the Fest. Sorry! Do me a favor, if they are giving away something really cool, sneak one out to your car for me please. :D

Ok, time to sign more shittin forms and mail them back to the lender.

    No excuses!

I'm still pissed at you for not following through on your monthly calander smugmug gallery... Priorities man, priorities!
There is no genuine justice in any scheme of feeding and coddling the loafer whose only ponderable energies are devoted wholly to reproduction. Nine-tenths of the rights he bellows for are really privileges and he does nothing to deserve them. We not only acquired a vast population of morons, we have inculcated all morons, old or young, with the doctrine that the decent and industrious people of the country are bound to support them for all time.-Menkin
