morning polies. i have a question i was in best buy, looking at some bluray players and i was told by the sales guy that in order to get 1080p i need hdtv and hdmi cable. i already know this is true. but for the audio i was also told that i need and hdmi cable to get dts mst and true hd. if i want to have both 1080p and recive lossless audio, why all bluray player come with one hdmi input?

For lossess audio you have 2 ways of getting it....
HDMi from your player to your AVR or Pre/Pro (then passed on to the TV for video). Depending on how you have the video set up to be sent, it will either Decode in the player and send via PCM or send the actual bitstream to the AVR and decode there.
You can also (on some players) hook up 6 or 8 analog cables to your player, and run to the 5.1 or 7.1 inputs on your AVR. This will always decode in the player, but is an available option for owners of older AVR's that are not ready to upgrade yet.
I am not aware of any players that offer multiple HDMi outputs, but that would certainly be a feature I would be interested in if I found one.

Sounds to me that the OP believes he needs an HDMI connection for audio and video sperately?
This is where the HDMI cable really shines and makes it superior in my book against the others, in order to decode the new audio codecs and receive a pristine 1080P picture, you only need a single connection with the HDMI cord.
I might be mistaken what you are saying, do you think you need a seperate HDMI connection for audio and video? -
I was reading it more as he does not want to process video through the AVR. i.e. - send audio to the AVR and video to the TV or projector. Even though it is capable of carrying both audio and video, not everyone wants signals being processed by equipment when it does not have to be.
I was agreeing that when watching older TV shows on DVD (or kids shows) it would be nice to turn on the TV and DVD player and be done rather than turn on the entire HT rig for something recorded in mono.....Mains.............Polk LSi15 (Cherry)

Its is a double edged sword... HDMI less cables needed, smaller rats nest. But now your video switching capability is gone.HT-- Denon avr-2808ci,Emotiva UPA-1s, RTi 10's, CSi A6, ERD-1 surrounds, Vizio P50, Yamaha yst-sw300, DVR hr21, 40g PS3, APC-h15
