Deep sea fishing....anyone else into this?

Went deep sea fishing again for the second time this year. Whoa what a great time! I used to go all the time with my dad till his wrists couldn't take it anymore(has metal plates/screws in there). All 5 of us on the boat went home happy and took home 2 big ziploc bags of fresh fish filets. Caught some monster cod, a wolffish, and haddock, and a ton of cusk(threw them back, they suck to eat).

Now I'm home, I'm exhausted, I'm sunburned, I'm hungry, and I stunk like fish till I showered 5 minutes ago.

What a way to spend a saturday!

I used to fish 3-4 times a week when I lived in CT. I moved to Ft Luaderdale the Pleasure boat theft capitol of the world, and well you guessed it. I did go out once a week down there on the drift boats. Down there you were deep see fishing and you could still read thew names of the hotels. What a blast. Tons of king fish, snappers, tarpon, sails, cobia, cuda, grouper, jacks, hammerheads... just to name a few. No long boat rides like up north. 20-30 minutes from the dock, and you were there;) Glad you had fun!

Damn Ben, we went over 2 hours out today. Fishing in 375 foot water. My friend reeled in a sponge, which apparently was a poisonous one cause he grabbed it with his hand and a little while later had numbness in his hand and arm. Kinda of funny, they were also calling it some wildly inappropriate names for PA forums. :)

I could still see the hotels(barely) at 2500' deep water. That's where all the swords were. In my 20' center console I could be in swordfish territory in 20-30 minutes from the port. The Bahamas were a 2 hr ride at 30mph;) There are plenty of nasties in the south too. If you don't know what it is for sure do not touch!

I grew up fishing off the coast of California all my life. Did so every chance I got. Bonita, bass, barracuda, yellowtail & albacore were what we caught the most.

    Miss it big time!

Went on a night trip in bad weather. Couldn't see the horizon, stars went crazy, dead squid bait made me hurl. Once the light showed up and I could see the horizon I was a-okay.

Great fun but beware of the night trips especially if it's 3 hours out, 3 hours fishing, and 3 hours back. Dramamine won't save you.

As much as I love to fish, I've never dropped a line in salt water. Lemme put that on my bucket list.

I don't eat fish, so it never held much allure to me aside from an excuse to sit on a boat and have a few beers all day.

And I don't need much of an excuse for that.

I've gone ocean fishing many times. Tuna are especially nuts. They fight and fight until they kill themselves. Unbelievable fish. We always filet and eat them because it's next to impossible to do a catch and release.

No thanks....there are sharks out there. If I never go in the ocean I have a much better chance of not getting eaten alive....unless I move to Mississippi in the summer and get eaten by land sharks. They call them 'mosquitoes' down there. Sorry.....the movie 'Jaws' ruined it all for me.

Solid, I have gone ocean fishing myself. Tuna are an awesome fight. Right up till they die!

Nothing beats a nice big fight that takes three guys holding a line just to keep you in the boat. Awesome!!

Next time we go out we're planning on going for some football tuna. 50-100 pounds is a nice little fight.

I caught a Barracude in Key West, 34" long, but I did not keep it, too expensive to have it mounted!!

That is far from a little fight.

I promise you will have a blast with Tuna of that size.

I think the biggest fight we ever had was a swordfish. We went out of Boston a few hours into the atlantic. It was just awesome. That was a fight to remember.

Yea, it's a little fight compared to the big bluefin. The other day one of the guys hooked something, possibly a big halibut, he wasn't sure what it was but it pulled the line unbelievably fast off his reel and finally snapped it.

Iv'e been deep sea a couple of times and had a blast. I went marlin fising off the keys and hooked a blue. 90 minutes to get it close to the boat and then the damm line snapped. I would love to do it again.

I was 2 hrs from the keys. Played there many times. Real cool place to hang out if you have a boat, or not. Diving is great. If you go to the keys you have to go to Molasses Reef! Take a glass bottom boat tour first, and if you can dive there. 65-75 feet deep looks like 15 feet deep. Just awesome.

I've gone out a couple of times launching from Half Moon Bay....first time was fantastic, second time the water was so rough and the boat was pitching up and down so bad that even the seasoned veterans said lets get the hell out of here.

    Havent gone since.

P.S. Never take siliconed strippers with you on a deep sea adventure....

What a video, I guess they are saying all females who like to fish for marlin should have breast implants prior to going fishing! What a great idea!

Just went and had all the line replaced on my reel, 80# nylon braided with a 30 foot leader of 80# mono.....a good 500' worth. Also purchased all new hooks, teasers, jigs etc. I can't wait till the next fishing trip. Was supposed to go on one Friday, but it's canceled due to wind so it might be this Sunday, we'll see. If no boats are going out I'll probably do some Striper and Bluefish fishing from the shore with my surfcasting rods.
