I know what your problem is Kevin; picture looks unbalanced. You need two more SVS in the right side :D

the second picture isn't to bad.. your camera is setting the exposure for what is in the front of the frame.. the rocking chair. cameras don't take a meter reading on the entire room.. the light meter in digital cameras read the brightest spot and set the correct settings for that.

most all digital cameras you can override some settings. you can also force your camera to have the flash go off even in bright sunlight. I use that trick when taking pictures outdoors to help eliminate shadows caused by the sun. it's a great trick to use.

    Thanks DB,

I reshot a few without the furniture and it is much better. Stills seems to to be a bit blurry.

Oh well, good enough for the Homecoming pics. Might need to give the police of a picture of my daughters date................., if he disapears(sp) or something. What? I'm just saying.;)

if it's blurry.. that is the camera's fault. I have a Sony camera from a few years ago. and every picture is slightly blurry. it's just that it's a POS camera. my newer Canon is much, much better for sharpness. :)

Some camera's have a picture light meter setting if the "Trigger" button half way down. If so you could point to a darker area of the room then while still half way down turn to where you wish to take picture then press all the way down taking the picture.

Yes...also...turn the flash off and get the camera to meter off the farthest subject. The flashes on most P&S digitals are pretty much worthless for anything outside of a few feet. Can you set the ISO on that camera? If so see if you can get it up to 400 or 800.

I also "fake out" the camera, do as disneyjoe suggests, I hold the trigger halfway, let the camera adjust itself and while holding the trigger readjust to what you want to take the actual picture of and squeeze... wah la... hey, it works for me
    Thanks, Jeff...

I would say change the ISO setting to 100 (or lower if possible) and use a tripod. If no tripod is available, set the camera on something, turn on the basement lights and use the timer in the camera so you are not touching it when the picture is taken. See if that cleans up the image at all.

BTW - nice room. Would be better balanced with a sub on each side though. Never know - it may even sound better.... :D
