I Finally Got Sirius

I've been holding out for quite some time on getting satellite radio. I'm old enough to remember the days when TV used to be free -- you know, the era before cable television and premium channels. So the idea of paying for TV was preposterous to me. It's a similar thing with radio. However, I realized that to get to the good stuff, you gotta pay for it.

So I'm lovin' my Sirius setup in the car. I get it on-line, too (it's "free" with subscription). Great stations, clear reception, and no 'effin' commercials. Very nice sound quality, too. I bought a low end Sirius radio because I didn't need all of those useless extra features found on the more expensive models. The radio unit, installation of the antenna, and $50 prepaid card cost me $112 at BB with in-store discounts.

I hear ya!! My wife just bought a new Ford Fusion that came with SYNC & Sirius radio. The radio is a free service for 6 months, just long enough to hook you. We're really enjoying it & will probably get addicted to it & belly up at the 6 months period. She loves her "all Elvis" station. I'm enjoying it also.

I've had it for about 9 months, six of those were free with the new car. I'm going to cancel it.

Well, I just pulled off the impossible by doing a double-blind comparison all by myself, purely by virtue of the fact that I completely and stupidly forgot what I did last. I guess that getting old does have its advantages after all :D

ive had it for almost 3 years now and wont think twice about getting rid of it. I mainly got for Howard and Bubba but enjoy it in my car and in my house for music when you dont feel like picking anything, just pick a channel and be done with it. Cant wait for them to do the Ala Carte programming.

Just how old are you? Cable started to take off in the 50's, and it wasn't free. I know my family had it before I was born, well over 40 years ago.

But like you, I do have a problem with radio not being free, especially when it is compressed, and sounds horrible (Satellite).

I'm over 40, but we didn't even know cable TV existed before the late 70's. We had rabbit ears until then.

I just added Sirius to my home six weeks ago, I'm watching for a deal similar to my 77.00 per year XM deal that I've been on and renewing since 2005. Also in June I switched from cable to OTA free TV since I found out I was in a signal and channel hot spot.

Glad to hear you are liking Sirius, I love it as well. It will be interesting to see exactly how the merger goes. Nonetheless, I am covered with my Sirius radio and XM is included with my Directv service, not quite as portable though. Haha

I love me some sirius. I have had it since Howrd Stern came over. But I listen more to other stuff now. The content on bothe services is just awesome. And the lack of commercials just makes it that much better.

Like Mute I have a Sirius in the car and Directv XM at home.

Can't wait to see what the merger will mean to us consumers.
