Flash drives and PS3

Can I use one of those Xg portable USB drives in the PS3 to say watch TV shows I have downloaded? so I don't have to burn them on a disk?

    I never try this, but I am pretty sure it would work.

    Cause I can get a 4g usb stick fo 9.99$cad. Thisway I could use it over and over less garbage as I have to toss out the DVDs once used..I may just buy it and try, if not it's going back.the stick that is not the PS3 ;)

    Just make sure the video file formats that you download is supported by PS3.. I don't believe PS3 supports all available video file formats.

    they are AVI. which I know it reads on a disk.

    I use one regularly on my PS3 for watching divX/avi shows. The PS3 is the best player I have seen yet for these formats. Upconverts them to hi-def as well. I'm using an 8 gig kingston stick.
