I'm sure If you're an avid Amazon shopper, you're fully aware of Amazon's 30-day price guarantee.

Here is today's email pertaining to all orders placed after September 01, 2008. A nice new pleasant suprise...

Hello from Amazon.com.

Thank you for contacting us to take advantage of our Post-Order Price Guarantee. I've confirmed that we recently offered a greater discount on "Xbox 360 Elite System Console Includes 120GB Hard Drive" than at the time you placed your order.

Since your purchase shipped within the past 30 days, I've requested a refund of $50.00 to the original payment method used for your order.

Only orders placed before September 1, 2008 are eligible for a price difference refund under the Post-Order Price Guarantee policy. As of September 1, 2008 we are no longer offering discounts if prices change on our website after you make a purchase.
Thank you for shopping at Amazon.com--we hope you'll visit us again soon.

That's a bummer. Most people will say it's not a big deal, but that's how it starts. They start taking away things a little at a time and no one thinks anything of it...

If you don't like Amazon's policies, shop elsewhere. Simple as that.

But I find it amusing that people are getting bent out of shape over a perk that Amazon was offering and has decided not to offer it anymore. The ONLY price Amazon is obligated to honor is the price that they advertise at the time of purchase. You're lucky they gave you $50 back. Suck it up.

Yeah, keep weighing the pros and cons of each store you shop at and make your deicsion based on that. THey're not "taking anything away" from you.

Amazon, FOR ME, tends to be one of the cheapest, and with my Prime membership super fast "free" shipping, not to mention convenient.
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

I figured Jstass would chime in and add his worthless two cents as usual.

I'm not bent out of shape over Amazon, it was just nice shopping with them knowing that I'd get the difference if the price went down in 30 days. I'm happy they're giving me the $50 back, not complaining at all. Amazon is going to be the one hurting unless they change there return policy, since they have a no questions asked 30 day return policy, I forsee the returns dept getting filled up pretty quickly now.

Assimilated hit it right on the money, this is just the start...

    BTW,

The point of this post was to point out the new policy. I'm in no way, shape, or form complaining about receiveing a $50 difference.

Just because you don't like it when I point out your douchebaggery doesn't mean my post is worthless.

You decided to post about a stupid policy change that doesn't really affect anyone adversely and judging by Amazon's numbers, you are in the extreme minority. There are plenty of other establishments out there that offer price matching. But you know what? If you have to rely on price matching so much that it will make it difficult if not impossible for you to be able to afford the items you are purchasing, maybe you shouldn't be purchasing them to begin with?

If you don't let the company know your dissatisfied with a policy change--they'll assume you're good with it.

Burying your head in the sand, and saying "oh well" definitely won't change a thing. Jstas--your comment was little over-the-top, don't you think? Someone states their opinion on something and it's categorized as "douchebaggery." Come on....

Jeezus John, you having a rough day or what? I mean I get what you were getting at with yuor first post here, but it seemed disproportionately hostile and combative.

I still stand by my opinion, though I think Steve said what I was trying to say better than I did...

Jstas, Why do you always jump on people. He was pointing out a new policy not crying. You are the one projecting some sort of anger on people. I know he said something back at you but you are always the first one to act like your superior. If you don't like it don't buy there, grrr I am better than you cause I don't care. Well it isn't that I care, it is a matter of principal. It sucks when you buy something and then see it a week later for $50.00 less.

Mike thanks for the info. I liked that policy and it had been nice to get a price difference refund.

    It's not just this instance.

This kid has had a hard-on for me since he got here and I called him on some BS. Now he never hesistates to throw out a deragatory name or insult at me. Perfect example is calling me an **** in his post. All because I said that he was crying about something that doesn't really matter.

And just as he is allowed to post his opinion, I am also entitled to mine. I am also not the only one that shares my opinion. But when someone is as juvenile and caustic towards me as this guy is, consistently, I don't play with the kid gloves on. If he is going to fire at me, I'm gonna fire back and I'm not using my pea shooter.

Think what you want, I don't give a damn. Maybe I am just a jerk. My post wasn't nice but I didn't "start" anything. I voiced my opinion like everyone else and I still think this is a big ruckus over nothing. If I have to treat this kid like a kid and tell him it's OK that those big meanies at Amazon want to screw you out of a perk that they choose to put themselves out for then you ain't gonna get it from me.

So you are saying We are crying (which we weren't)over nothing, and Amazon is even better now that they are taking away a policy that has been in place since they started?

OK that works I guess I will suck it up then. WOW!

Jstas, people are just stating their opinions about your response, so STOP WHINING AND SUCK IT UP.

    Sound familiar?

Don't be angry, I'm just stating my opinion.

Um, no. I'm saying that Amazon deciding not to offer the price matching anymore doesn't matter. Doesn't make them better or worse, the policy was honored at their discretion anyway. You can tell Amazon that this makes you unhappy and they are very likely not to care. That's what I'm saying. But it's obviously useless to talk to you because your sensibilities are offended and you're gonna twist whatever I say around to support your emotional state.

Steve, problem with your statement is that I'm not actually whining. I was ASKED what my deal was. I didn't even really notice it was this kid as the OP. I would have posted the same no matter who it was. It just happens that every time I see something like this and I respond with my brutal way, it's the same kid whose sensibilities I offend. I don't really care that I offend them anymore because no matter how I approach this kid, it's the same response. I just don't care. Question me all you want, tell me to stop whining and suck it up but I'm not whining. I am just answering questions and accusations.

Now I could have rattled off a long line of expletives questioning everything from gender to intelligence but, I didn't.

Who are you referring to as a "kid"?

You obviously have no idea who I am, and making judgements out of your **** as usual. There are plenty of people on this board who actually know me, far from being the "kid" as you proclaim me to be.

My sensibilities are far from hurt. I just get sick of people jumping on or flaming all the time. You aren't the only person. I was just annoyed at that moment.

As far as this thread goes. I agree that Amazon can give two craps about what we think. And I am sure alot of people never even knew they had the policy in the first place so it isn't going to be the end of Amazon. In the grand scheme does it matter? No, but it is good to know.

Oh by the way, I am not going to twist your words. You have said your peace and I have said mine. That's good for me. Is that good for you??

I buy something because I am willing to pay the asking price. I'm really not concerned if it goes on sale at a later date. If that is a concern, I'm not going to pay the price to begin with and will wait until it is "cheaper" or buy something else. I buy quite a lot from Amazon and have NEVER asked for or recieved a refund because of a price reduction at a later date. Much ado about nothing IMO.

Grow up and I won't call you a kid, kid.

And I don't care who you are nor have I passed judgement on you. I only know you by your words and actions here on this forum and they lack integrity and character. You are not a person I wish to associate myself with and the few times, like this thread, that I have done it in the past, it has been purely by accident. I don't go out actively seeking you contrary to popular belief.

But it seems to be your MO to worry about me. Go worry about yourself for a while and see where that gets you because I'm only going to raise your blood-pressure, hurt your feelings and make you mad, like Amazon did. Have fun with it!

:rolleyes:Are you done yet?? You've taken another thread and turned it into a complete 180. Keep posting though, you're very entertaining...

I also purchase items from Amazon and enjoy getting free shipping with no tax. I did like the fact that I can get a few bucks refunded to me if the item does happen to drop in price in a 30-day period, for me it was what set them apart from other companies. Will it make me not shop with them again, NO...

Having gathered at Mike's for a mini-Polk fest I can assure you he is neither a kid or a whiny troublemaker. John has issues with a lot of people and by his own admission, with life. Things were looking up (his words) since the new job.............it appears maybe he's having a bad week.

Once again he has taken a thread and totally turned on it's side and then upside down.

For me the issue isn't the money as far as 30 day price guarantee's; it's the fact that if you as a retailer (on-line or brick and mortar) aren't going to give your best price today then if you give a better price within 30 days I should have the opportunity to get the difference.

All the major retailers do this and it's too bad Amazon isn't going to provide that anymore.
