Except for the fact that you just purchased 750 pieces of tube gear that have already been shipped to Nigeria and your account has been charged accordingly. ;)

Talked with A-Gon, it was a Romanian Hack, they want your ID and password, they look for folks with perfect scores, long record and so on. Then they list ficticous gear under your name or yes, buy things under your name with fake dough, fake MO, fake paypal and so on.

They also said to watch out for funny e-mails, especially greeting cards from these crooks.

As a precationary measure my account with them was suspended as soon as I sent the notice asking them if it was real, somehow though the **** wipes got my e-mail address at work. They cannot get the password but I guess everyone's e-mail is in cyberspace somewhere.

I never trust cold calling type emails with links in them. There are ways to detect the embedded hidden stuff, but its more complicated for the layuser, you really have to know what to look for, otherwise its convincing. Most sites that contain valuable data like PP or your bank use SSL but even that can be obfuscated if you don't really understand how SSL certs work and can't tell a real cert from a fake one. Emails from the bank or Paypal invoice reqs, etc, anything that would take me to a site that would require me to 'login'--I never click the link, I manually open the website myself and look for the message or invoice, etc.

When you recieve an email that looks legit and is posing as a legit site in an effort to get
personal information or account info is called Phishing. Its especially rampant with Banks.
