After buying my 2nd pv-7 on ebay for $497 shipped, it had static in the left channel so I took it to my mechanic and he said 3 caps needed replaced and the pre-amp output circuit also $195 total for all.
I got it back today and and it sounds incredible. I ask him if caps need to burn in and he said no and by the sound of this, I can vouch for that.
I also ask him if the brand of caps make a difference and he said no. He said to stick with electrolytic if that's what it had in it before. He has so much experience with this stuff that I believe every word he says. Many of the local hi-fi resellers here use him for all their repairs including gary at http://www.soundsgoodtomehouston.com/
Well worth the money. I will take my other one in and let him check the caps on it.
My sdas are still stock tho

Sounds good. IF the caps are in the signal path, they should make a difference. I heard a difference when I changed the coupling caps in my tube amp (probably not for the better).
Try getting some Sonic Caps in your SDA x-over.
