Face recommended a player to me before that I really liked, and I really liked it over WMP. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Just a player?
I like Foobar and Winamp, personally.
I typically use Winamp for everything, the huge wealth of plug-ins make it very appealing to me.I don't read the newsssspaperssss because dey aaaallllllllll...... have ugly print.

A player or a ripper?
For a player, my favorite is and probably will be for a while, Winamp. It really whips teh llama's ****!
For a ripper, CDex has been the easiest and most capable one I have used to date. It also uses one of teh most efficiecnt engines and codecs for MP3. If you want to use other formats that are less lossy or lossless, you'd want something that can do oggvorbis or something. But at a 320k rip rate, the MP3's come out well enough for everyday listening anyway. I don't use MP3s for critical listening.Expert Moron Extraordinaire

I just downloaded foobar. It doesn't look real pretty, but it sounds better than WMP so far. I did the winamp thing a while ago, but it didn't sound as good as what I had.
Thanks

Just a player. I have a lot of 128 bit rate files on my PC, and the tang band speakers. I am trying to squeeze what I can out of them.Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Really? Have you messed with the EQ in Winamp? I'm using Winamp on every system I have. My home computer has an Onkyo pre-amp with a NAD stereo amp and it's hooked up to Polk Audio R15's. It sounds spectacular. But if I turn off the EQ, it gets flat and lifeless.
Maybe your sound card is affecting things?Expert Moron Extraordinaire

Yeah, i run my computer out the SPDIF on the sound card to the Onkyo and through the HT setup. It sounds great to me on Winamp. It DID take some tweaking of the EQ, but it sounds extremely close to full file CDs to me.I don't read the newsssspaperssss because dey aaaallllllllll...... have ugly print.

I have a real nice sound card, and a modded Accurian amp. I know that Accurian isn't the best, but its pretty good. I need to try a real CD.Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Here's a nice set of drivers. http://www.asio4all.com/"He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. And when you gaze long into an abyss the abyss also gazes into you." Friedrich Nietzsche

Well I did a CD, and an MP3 in both players Flat on the EQ. Both players playing the same song at the same time. I switched back and forth. I heard no difference. Are there any programs that upsample? My old Outlaw 990 had this feature for CD playback, and it helped with some CD's.Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Check out MediaMonkey-I haven't been into the PC based players lately, so I don't know what's best, but I got this based on some reviews and but this also plays FLAC, etc. - Not saying the others don't just throwing another option out there.____________________

Well this is going to take a little time. The drivers seemed to help it to sound a little bit fuller, but there is only so much you can do with 128bit MP3s:( I'll have to play with it later, and send the coax out to my GDA-700 DAC. Also I'll have to play with the EQ's. I need to make a little time to build a gain clone amp for the puter.Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com.
