My dad had an absolute ton of aircraft memorabilia. I wish I didn't know any better and could just heave this stuff. You name it, he's got three of it. The hardcover books alone could easily equip a base library. Insane. Unopened boxes of mahogany models from The Phillipines. Impact resistant models of aircraft usually handed out by the companies that build them, and displayed on the desks of guys that drive them.
Oddball handouts and press releases from the late 40's through the 50's by companies like Grumman, Republic, North American, Convair (Consolidated Vultee). Literally tons of that stuff.

Find a museum that would appreciate the material, maybe donate it. That is unless you want to enter the really crazy world of selling military memorabilia. You think the audio guys are crazy? Join a Forum, if you got something to sell, they'll show up at your door.

How about some pics George? Sounds like some of that stuff is cool!

The high point for mil collectors would probably be the cast iron placque, or cornerstone from a building in the Fatherland, with The Fuehrer's raised profile on it. His nose, and part of his ear are green, the rest is black. I don't know if it's a chemical reaction, or if me or my sister when we were young, got hold of it and touched it up a little for him. The high point for me is the desktop models of the 105. Both from Republic Aircraft, one is steel and the other hard plastic. Those babies are staying right here.

The books I may donate, the other stuff is too valuable. I live near an air base, and there's a big air show at another small place about 5 miles from here every year.

"Join a forum." No. I hate those.

LOL! The Fuhrers stuff can be very valuable, especially is you have some documentation with a story or something of interest to history buffs. Got to be careful selling that **** stuff! Many places prohibit it. Also crazies from the military cults want it, Jewish organizations will send thugs also. I don't know which could be worse?

My brother has a Japanese officer's Navy dress sword. More of a dagger but nicely ornamented, complete with sheath and belt thingy.

I hear you about the negative aspects of some of the stuff. It'd still be great to move it for a small fortune and hand the check to you know who.

You got that right George. I have a friend who had a bunch of stuff, and I mean a bunch of real good stuff from the Vaterland. His uncles (note plural) were shipping stuff from Military warehouses in Germany back to the States before the war ended. It was a free flow of stuff including brand new firearms, uniforms, etc. until the war was over. Then, it became more difficult. They began to scrutinize the material. He put two kids through college with the money. He said it's a crazy world for that stuff.

Just lay it all out on the floor and stare it for a LONG time.

    That's what I would do.
Check your lips at the door woman. Shake your hips like battleships. Yeah, all the white girls trip when I sing at Sunday service.

Come on over and I'll let you do it you damn freak.

Airplane memorabilia freaks are second only to hi-fi and train freaks. If I was in England with this much of it I would be the king. Those guys are completely over the top about airplanes.
