Brady's out, Cassel is a joke, so this would at least give fans something to watch for.

"Sources have told Pro Football Central ( yes the same source who told us about the Brady news first and that was dead on accurate) that quarterback Daunte Culpepper has not yet filed his retirement papers into the league and that already Patriots WR Randy Moss has been very vocal about getting Culpepper into town for a visit. The Patriots are, as the source states willing to bring Daunte in for a physical (which he passed in Pittsburgh)and go from there. Our take, this is 110% exactly what Culpepper was looking for during the offseason, a chance to start, play with a playoff team and play with Randy Moss and this is his chance and he will take whatever New England offers him to play for this team."

"Shortly after Tom’s devastating injury yesterday, the Pats contacted free agent QBs Chris Simms and Tim Rattay. According to ESPN’s Chris Mortensen (reporting on Monday Night Countdown), when they showed up for their interviews/workouts today, both players were sent back to the airport because plans had changed. I just got off the phone with Patriots Executive Director of Media Relations Stacey James and all he knew of the matter was that Coach Belichick told him no quarterbacks worked out today".

Looks like a deal has been struck?

I maintain my position that Culpepper is a big baby, and his past two stops in the NFL certainly haven't been encouraging.
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

I agree, but if I have to watch Cassel, I most likely won't watch at all. I'm grasping at straws. . . like Dr. Bill B., so I can at least enjoy some competitive play. Win or lose, I don't care.

It IS the organization that put Moss straight (OK, almost), so anything is possible.

To be fair to Cassel, the kid hasn't really had an opportunity to show that he is good OR bad. I mean, I know they played the Chiefs this week, but they did win the game, and he didn't throw any picks or anything. Belichick isn't an idiot, and he's kept Cassel around for what, four years now?

I'm not saying he's gonna be the next Brady but I'm willing to see what he can do.

Maybe the price was right for keeping him around.

I don't think Culpepper is their answer. He's too much of a loose cannon. Brady is successful because he relies on the other players to do their job. Thankfully for him, they do it well. But Brady doesn't run around much, he just stands and looks and fires that cannon of an arm he has. Culpepper is full of himself and looking to always make something happen. He seems to like a run and gun approach and that's not how that team is set up. I think Simms would have been a better choice and even bring Testaverde in. He's old but he has experience with that kind of offense. Put him in and do the two QB thing with Cassel and they probably have something potent patched together there. I think Culpepper would be a problem and way to prima-donna-ish for the Pats. He'll hurt them way more than he helps them.

As far as the Cowboys go, they beefed up the secondary D with Jones, even if he is a difficult character to deal with. When Newman gets back and healthy again, the talent on the D side will be as deep as the talent on the O side. I don't think Romo will have a better year than last year. I think that he is going to do about the same. But now they have a very strong defensive line and a stronger secondary than they did last year. They will be more effective on a screen and they can push more guys up to the line to pressure the QB, especially in a blitz. I don't think it will be like last year where it seemed that Dallas relied on outscoring their opponents. Now, they seem to be limiting the scoring of their opponents. If Romo plays like he did last year, that's all they will need to do provided the defense keeps their end up and stuffs the other teams offense. Either way, it's gonna be an interesting season and if they go to the big show this year, I have a feeling that Jerry will have another dynasty on his hands like he had in the mid 90's 'cause nobody is gonna want to leave that team and everybody is gonna be itching to get on it.

About Pacman Jones, I think he is going to show his full potential this year because Jerry WILL NOT tolerate his shenanigans. As much of a jackass as Pacman is, he does have talent. He has the ability to be one of those "greatest to ever play" types. Just like T.O. T.O. finally sat down, shut up and did his job and he's tied for number 2 on the all time touchdown list and he's up there on the yardage list too. It looks like he is going to eclipse Jerry Rice in the next two seasons too. It's amazing what some of these boisterous talents can do when they stop thinking about them for 2 seconds and think about what they are paid to do. It's actually a pleasure watching T.O. work his magic now because it doesn't come with all the attitude anymore. I can't wait to see what Pacman is capable of.
