My situation is I've been trying to find another pair of surround speaker to go with my system. I currently have monitor 60's and a CS1 for my center. I was looking for a set of monitor 30's or 40's for my extra surrounds.

My problem is I live in Canada and I'm have trouble getting them shipped from the USA. There are a few places over here that have them but at triple the price of. Crutchfield and amazon are giving me a whole lot of problems shipping here, so I have to resort to Ebay or some other means.

Currently Ebay doesn't have much for 30's or 40's and I can't shop the PolkDirect store needs me to have a US paypal account.

Finally here is my question. How important is it for sound matching to have the surrounds be part of the monitor series? What about tsi series or another brand? Will it truly make that much of a difference?

Any opinions or suggestions are welcome. Thanx in advance.

lucky - you probably haven't gotten an answer since most of us haven't dealt with this situation.
Have you tried other major online retailers? Quite a few sell polks. is this due to US law? (sorry I'm clueless.) Also, what about canadian websites..

If you're near the border and all else fails... do like most canucks and com'on down for a shopping spree.

Actually all my other speakers were bought from a place in Buffalo, NY but he has no monitor 30's. All major retailers don't want to ship here. The only Canadian site that has them is www.visions.ca but they're at least double the price or more of the USA.

Should I stick with looking for Monitor 30's or can I look at another set? I know it isn't set in stone that I need to match the monitors perfectly, but should I keep trying to find them or does anyone have any recommendation on other surround speakers?

lucky: I think you should call Polk and find out which other series is reasonably close to monitors -- perhaps also post thread here asking what models go ok with Monitors -- i don't think matching surrounds is all that crucial. Surprised you can't find set on flea bay.

Also have you checked Rochester NY? Circ City (585) 475-0330 MAY still carry them. Stereo Shop carries Polk tho may not have Monitor line (and likely full MRP)
Too bad I fried one of my Monitor 40's or I could have sold you pair cheaply (could still sell to you, but my guess is that'd would be more expensive to repair than buy outright. I'm actually using one of the Monitors with a single RT35i (it's mate also died) in zone 2.
