I have decided that in light of recent developments in the latest for sale thread without 25 posts here.

http://www.polkaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?p=916103#post916103

I am changing my siggy to say.

This site is not like other sites douchebaggery is both tolerated and promoted here.

REGARDS SNOW
Well, I just pulled off the impossible by doing a double-blind comparison all by myself, purely by virtue of the fact that I completely and stupidly forgot what I did last. I guess that getting old does have its advantages after all :D

    You don't like this site?

Feel like you are being mistreated?

No one is being forced to stay here, feel free to visit another audio board and report back.

    Actually I love this site.

No I dont feel like I am being personally mistreated.

I visit other audio sites daily.

My whole point of this thread is to point out the difference between how I understand the rules and how they are applied.

If for some reason Justin, or you feels the rules need changing fine, I personally could care less what the rules are, but I do think that whatever they are we all need to follow them including and especially the moderators, otherwise this leads to chaos.

Perhaps we need another area where members without 25 posts can sell there wares possibly for a $2.00 fee and once you get 25 posts its posted in the regular flea market area. There has to be a way of pleasing most if not all of us without strife and conflict.

Russman, I loves ya' bro' but even I have to admit that one was a strange one. Take a look at this http://www.polkaudio.com/forums/showpost.php?p=916097&postcount=123 and just think about it. I know that you have a hard job and the other mods may have a leash put upon them, but damn.

Too much "gray" and maybe not enough black and white. Not confronting, just saying. BTW, I felt that I represented Polk quite fine in that thread. Slipped a little bit on that last post, but that "issue" should have been taken care of long ago as well. It was taken care of at one point, but I guess the powers that be made a boo-boo in letting him return.

Please take this post as constructive and positive. It was not meant to be anything other than that. LMK how I can be of assistance.

Tom, post 123 was the only decent thing I saw on my brief perusal.

It is what it is guys, it's an audio board. Does everyone really need to be reminded about buying for a new member, with no posts? Buyer beware, it's simple, it's a no brainer. Has the 25 post rule helped anything? I know it's kept spam out of the FM, but other than that, it's been pretty much useless, no?

Yes I agree with you that for the most part the 25 post rule is pretty useless considering one can get 25 posts within a few hours, if not less. But I also think that there has to be a way of allowing new members to post someplace or else we will continue to see the kind of threads that just got closed.

As I mentioned earlier perhaps make a classified area for new members and charge a small fee $2.00 for example and take the proceeds and put it towards Polk Fest or some similar worthwhile cause. This way everyone gets to sell something if they want and hopefully it will end the rants on new members posting outside the flea market area. Or simpy abolish the 25 post rule alltogether and I will stop my whining :D

You should check out AudioKarma when their adminsitrator (Grumpy) is on the rag. He calls members "douchebags" when he reads something he doesn't like. If you question him, he threatens to ban you permanently. He locks the threads before you can reply and breaks most of the forum rules doing so.

I don't know about anyone here, but I think it's a bad thing when an administrator breaks the rules, attacks their members (in written format) and then hides behind their power to control the backlash. Oh, and then they have the nerve to ask for donations and subscriptions. I told him that not everyone reading the threads are adults. Many member's kids also participate in audio discussions and share in the forums. He told me to F off and not tell him how to run things, blah, blah, blah. That if the parents don't like it, they can say so and he'll ban them.

Guess having lax mods and admins isn't so bad at times.

This is a good point. Hell, people are even getting burned from people who have been here awhile and contributed.

    It's always been Caveat Emptor.

Even so I don't feel it's too out of line for us to look out for each other and call a spade a spade if one sees fit. Granted the recent thread did spiral out of control, but even then it was a mild spiral and partly because the noob kept digging.

I wouldn't buy from anyone here that I didn't feel comfortable with and then I would probably have a limit. We all take on certain amount of risk and reward. It is unfortunate when a contributing member strays and stiffs someone like seems to be happening with GG right now.

The 25 post count rule doesn't work because it's not enforced. Of late, I can't think of one time that the offending listing/thread/post has been deleted and I report every one of them.

As for whining carl, wasn't it you that emailed Matt Polk himself and emailed/called Justin so many times whining about being banned that they finally gave in just to shut you up? Why, yes it was. Therefore, making you the King of the Whiners.

    He emails Polk daily.

Can we just focus on helping people out, talking shop, and ramping up for Polkfest for now? Am I the only one with tired head from all this? Hasn't everyones lifeforce drained (no matter what side of whatever argument you are on)?

    Cheers,

I think there's a full moon somewhere. Some weird things going on here as of late.

I'm giving Russman a big hug at Polkfest and letting him know how much I appreciate his work on this forum :) Hopefully he's got a set of RCA Command Series 12au7's in his pocket I can lift while I'm hugging him :D

I'm going to post my 2 cents here, although I really haven't earned the right to do so. I've been a lurker here for quite a while, and to be honest come here most of the time to learn, but the "soap opera" at times can also be entertaining.

I see more problems and fights coming from the flea market. Why even have it? There are plenty of places to sell gear, and if you really want a fellow CP member to have it, start a thread that you have something for sale, and then keep it at the pm level. Might go a long way to solving a lot of the problems.

The only time there is a problem is when someone tries to circumvent the rules of the flea market. That has ALWAYS been the main problem.

Some just seem to think that they should be exempt because they think they are special.

We quickly point out that they are not. Follow the rules & the FM is nice & peaceful. Break the rules and things can get ugly really quickly.
