Well I have decided after much thought to try and get a Sunfire signature ll amp after purchasing a Carver research Lightstar direct pre. Most likely the the 300 wpc non signature model would be all I will ever actually need, but I figure why not go for the bigger model since there is one that popped up on ebay that looks to be in decent shape.

And it should be interesting to compare the combinations of balanced and rca style inputs with the current and voltage outputs.

Well, I just pulled off the impossible by doing a double-blind comparison all by myself, purely by virtue of the fact that I completely and stupidly forgot what I did last. I guess that getting old does have its advantages after all

Thanks guys and Cathy. I havent won this auction yet but if I do I will certainly let my thoughts be known here. I think that this is the best way to learn about a product is through another audio nuts views, even though there has been plenty of reviews by the pros its always interesting to read an non professional point of view.

Not a review per se ... But I've had a pair of these for a couple of years and have no reason to change ...

Has anyone tried the sunfire amps with a tube pre? I wonder if the combination sounds as good as with a carver amp.

from what i have read it should sound even better.

Well I didnt get this amp it went for a litle more than I wanted to spend considering the condition of the pics. But I am continuing to look for either the 300x 2 or 600x 2 in very good to near mint condition
