Advice on choosing vintage mains

I have a second room that I want to outfit with HT. I'll have to buy another receiver and decide whether to buy a center to match my Paradigm Reference 60's and then pick up some surrounds too.Building a Paradigm rig is going to be pretty expensive. I'm wondering if I can save the P's for stereo (that's what I use them for now) and maybe pick up some vintage Polk monitors for my mains for HT.
Is anyone using the old monitors like 7's or 10's for mains? I see a 7c and 10b on Craigs. If these are appropriate which would be the choice? Any comments would be highly appreciated!

People seem to prefer the 7s.The 10s are great but have a drawback that has something to do with the mids being side by side.I dont remember exactly what it is but have heard it refered to a few times on this forum.Get SDAs.you will thank me later.SDA-2BTL with custom IC

7's will do a great job for either application."He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. And when you gaze long into an abyss the abyss also gazes into you." Friedrich Nietzsche

What sort of bass will the 7C's have compared to my SDA 2's. I don't have a subwoofer in my large living room and don't see any need of one. -
I had RTA15's for my surrounds with my big SDA;s up front, but the RTA series would be nice for fronts.
BenPlease. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
Thanks

I getting to know a pair of SDA 2B speakers I snagged from a local Craig's List seller this week. I have yet to use them for HT purposes, though they are set up right now in two-channel mode in my home theater room. Can't go wrong with a pair of these.

I would add 1C's. I'm using them as mains in an HT with SDA 2's as surrounds (which are not that great in that capacity). Both the 2's and 1C's make great mains. I will say that if you are driving them with a receiver the 4-6 ohm load may be an issue.Sony 60'' SXRD 1080p

Polk monitor series speakers are my favorite "budget speaker" for the HT and you can probably get all 5 for under $300 if you are patient........I preferred the SDA effect on my stereo rig although many here enjoy using them in their HT. Use a sub to get the frequencies that are below 60hz.........

Hey, Marty. Looks like I'm not too far away from you. Glad you weren't looking at the Mobile Craig's List the last month, because the 2B's I got for $125 were on there a little while before I noticed them!
My HT setup has a pair of RT55's and a CS400 up front with a Paradigm PW-2500 subwoofer and a pair of RT35i's for surrounds.
The "new" 2B's weren't a planned purchase, so right now they are in the same HT room sitting in front of the 55's. The 2B's are too close to the side walls because of my large projection screen, but life is a compromise sometimes.
I'm thinking about keeping my HT rig as is and using the SDA's for two channel music only. Should I decide to use them as HT mains as well, I could move things around and use my Polk 5jr+'s from my office as surrounds. Right now I robbed a tweeter from one of those for the left 2B.
To the original poster... don't mean to hijack your thread. I think your idea of building an HT system using the original Monitor series with a sub has a lot of merit.
