(Click on title names for links and/or mp3s) -
"The Poor People of Paris" by Les Baxter?
Sheesh!"Wish I didn't know now what I didn't know then." Bob Seger -
Tonight's the Night (Gonna Be Alright) - Rod Stewart
Or maybe that's what was playing while I was being conceived...I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore -
The Teddy Bears? A Phil Spector product. They sucked if I remember correctly. The Ronettes, or Darlene Love they weren't. And the song sucked too.

Blech...
Woman in Love - Babara Streisand -
Awesome recording job on that one Summer Place. Big lush stage.
It was also at the tail end of the era when you had two movies, cartoons, newsreels, coming attractions, and a dropped curtain intermission with music. That was one of those songs that got played along with Poor People of Paris, Alley Cat, etc. Nothing too upbeat and no vocals. Back when they gave you time to go hit the head and buy some stuff too. Altec "Voice of the Theater" in the better places. -
Well, after all you old folks I guess I'll have to represent the newer era of music.
US - I Think We're Alone Now - Tiffany

UK - You Win Again - The Bee Gees

Good group, but never heard that particular song before.
Down Under - La Bomba - Los Lobos

Wow, that's awesome! Fantastic song, had totally forgotten about it, had no idea who did it, etc. So it was cool to be reminded of this one.George Grand wrote: »

What a memory George. You described it exactly how it was. They were also hitting us with those subliminal video quips telling us to buy popcorn.
I use to confuse "Summer Place" (Percy Faith) with Chad and Jeremy's "A Summer Song"
More from Wikipedia about Theme From a Summer Place:
The song was a US number-one hit instrumental for Percy Faith in 1960 and was the best-selling single of the year. It reached number two in the UK. Faith re-recorded the song twice; first in 1969 as a female choral version, then in 1976 as a disco version titled "Summer Place 76." Interestingly, Percy Faith's version was not the one in the movie, which was recorded by Hugo Winterhalter.Carl -

Wow, that's awesome! Fantastic song, had totally forgotten about it, had no idea who did it, etc. So it was cool to be reminded of this one.
It's spelled La Bamba and it was a remake for the movie "La Bamba" that Los Lobos did. Ritchie Valens was the guy who brought it to notoriety back in 1958. It's a Mexican folk song that Valens took and added a rock and roll flair to. The Movie "La Bamba" was about Valens and his brother Bob Morales. Los Lobos sang the song for the movie soundtrack. Ritchie Valens died in a plane crash on February 3rd, 1959 along with Buddy Holly and J.P. Richardson (a.k.a.: The Big Bopper) That was "the day the music died".
Funny thing about "La Bamba", it was a surprise hit for Valens and his label. It was a B-side to the song "Donna" which was a miserable failure in comparison.Expert Moron Extraordinaire

I am pretty sure GG the number one hit on your BD was some kind of chant between Cain and Abel.

I just noticed I botched up the youtube links in my first post. Ordinarily I would fix it immediately. However, since I can no longer edit my post, I guess it'll just hafta be wrong. :mad:George Grand wrote: »
