    Ciao George

I have a 535. Used the darn monster interconnects. they were so tight that when pulled out they took the sleeves off the rca jacks. Have any idea what jacks would fit the 535. Got some gold ones from Ratshack....but diameter is to small. Think I could use washers on both sides???

    Thanks in advance

Yes, 60 wpc is what they are rated at, but...

This amp will smoke a 100wpc AVR (I used to run my R50s off of one).

Excellent bargain for a great little amp.
So, are you willing to put forth a little effort or are you happy sitting in your skeptical poo pile?

Actually, they are rated at 100W if both A+B are driven. I believe they are also rated at 100W if driving a 4 Ohm load. I use one with LSi9's and it doesn't break a sweat. It's plenty loud for my small-medium sized room. These are great prices too.

The Adcom 535 is the "little amp that could" It's a "true" dual mono design as it has (2) IC transformers in it; one for each channel. 60wpc is very conservative.

When I sold these way back when......it used to easily keep up with a Yamaha amp rated at 5 times the power running fairly inefficient A/D/S towers.

It's not dual mono, it has one power tranny. It cannot be bridged, but feel free to biamp with a pair of them. It's a great amp, at prices WAY under market here. George had an article that reviewed the 535 and it benched around 78 watts continuous, despite the 60 watt rating. 4 ohm loads, no problem.

    Anything else?

    Cheers,
    Russ

The 535 I have has two power transformers in it as per the Adcom schematic.

Actually RuSs that is incorrect it has 2 tranny's. See the affordable audio review. And it is dual mono in architecture.

P.s. Not calling you out.....just setting the record straight. They're not toroids they are Iron Core ala old fashioned style. Can't find them anymore if you blow one

    GD-
After very careful consideration, I will take the "lesser" amp, if it's still around.

(Actually, I decided to buy it after you replied to my PM, just haven't logged on since)

PM or email me for info, etc.

    Thanks,
    Harry

Russ is right on. The senior service tech at Adcom during the 535, 545, and 555 period told me that each and every one of those 535's reached at least 78 watts before clipping into 8 ohms.

He sold me a 555 right from Adcom back then too. Good guy at Onkyo now, Don Milks. He was a part-time intel guy or something like that back then in my squadron. Polk Paul knows him.

Try Affiliated Electronics: 908.874.3799 for the power transformers. The last time I checked, they were $37.44 ea. PN# 720116773

Don't worry about calling anyone or anything out, correct info is the key. I've never cracked a 535, I've been inside plenty of 545 and 555 - I just assumed - lesson learned. It does have two cute little power trannies in there.

Not the first time I've been wrong. I was wrong once in '82, I'm sure it will happen again. ;)

George, I love him as much as you do, but his name if Def Paul now. Get it? DEAF Paul? I'm here all week.

    Cheers,

Yeah that extra pair of outputs will certainly give it more grunt into lower impedances.

Hi, is one of the 535's still available?

I can't yet PM due to my low post count (sounds like a medical affliction. ;)

    Thanks!
