This term mean anything to anyone?

Anyone a parent in here? lol

I work at a music store (for those that dont know) --- and this was my third "Band Season"

Basically it is the back to school event where all the parents are getting instruments for their kids.

Just curious if anyone partaked in this event this year?

Haha, pretty random, but this is a pretty big thing for music stores across the country...

My daughter started 6th grade a couple weeks ago and is now taking trumpet. But she is using my old horn, so we didn't have to rent/buy yet, at least. I did take it in and get it tuned up and cleaned at the beginning of the summer so I could get her started, but she didn't really do much over the break. I am thinking of getting myself a new horn if she stays with it so we could play some duet stuff. She has played piano for over 3 years.

    Cool,
Trumpet was a hard to find instrument this year. Selmer was backordered until November with their student model. With Yamaha in a very similar situation. So we had very few new trumpets...

Is she enjoying playing or has she not reached that point?

One time, at band camp. Er wrong thread.

I keep hearing ads for Guitar Center clearance(or similar store, I forget) though if that matters.

My rental season is better than last year, trombones are huge, which is rare, and sax rentals are non-existant due to the large investment on the models I carry.

Conn-Selmer which makes Bach has had troubles filling orders due to the UAW strike in their Indiana plant and having to ship all the student lines over seas to meet demand.

It is my busiest time of year, but I never complain about the $$$ it generates.

I would rate these as our top instruments this year (in order)

    Clarinet
    Alto Sax
    Trumpet
    Flute
    Trombone
    Tenor Sax

    Few Baritones and Euphoniums

But the first 4 all did pretty even as far as renting and buying...

Must be tough for you Trey to keep up with all the work, but I'm sure things will get better after school starts.
