Back from the north

As many of you know a recent tragic event befell my son John and I. We had planned a trip to northern British Columbia for a wedding and then a trip to Edmonton Alberta to visit the West Edmonton Mall (north america's largest mall) and then a few days in the Canadian Rockies. The trip is done and we are back. It wasn't without it's problems though. The truck/camper overheated on day one with daytime temperatures at record highs when we left (35 degrees celsius/95 farenheit and yes it gets that hot in Canada) the truck showed a weakness in cooling with the camper on. We just needed to take it really easy on the hills and not push the old diesel Ford too hard. The wedding was great. Miles out in the middle of nowhere with half the guests true Canadian rednecks. The music was non-stop country (aaarrrrgggg) but the food was great. West Edmonton Mall was freaking huge!! Pretty cool though. Me and the boy went to the indoor water park where they have the world's biggest indoor wave pool and had a blast. Next was the Canadian Rockies where we stopped at Jasper Alberta. Wildlife spotted in Canadain Rockies: whitetale deer, mule deer, elk, black bear, golden eagle, bald eagle, marmot, mountain goats, bighorn sheep, grey wolves, stupid tourists (far too many...I think they need culling). We also stopped at Athabasca falls which was spectacular and then at the Columbia icefields and the Columbia glacier and stood at the foot of the glacier. Then on to Lake Louise which National Geographic Magazine calls the most beautiful lake in the world. Very pretty but pretty crowded as was the town of Banff. Overall the trip was really nice and a good transition for my son John and me into our new life together since his mom died. John is doing really well all things considered. Oh I nearly forgot, the highlight (for me anyway) of the trip....the two nights in Edmonton were highlighted with massive prarie thunderstorms. Huge lightning and thunder. I love that stuff. John hates it so it was happy/sad. Well, that's it for now. I'll see if I can post some pics.
