Okay, so call it silly... but I'd like to find a power amp to replace my adcom. But I want one specifically with meters. Analog would be best, but I'd go for LEDs in a pinch. I want to watch the meters bouncin'
By the way, I currently have a GFA-535, so I'd like it to be a bit beefier than what I have, as well. Might as well upgrade all around

I'm not familiar with your adcom but tex has a carver tfm-25 for sale with meters in the flea market 225wpc @ 8 ohms, 350wpc @ 4 ohms.

What's your budget?
If you're a fan of meters, check out McIntosh."He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. And when you gaze long into an abyss the abyss also gazes into you." Friedrich Nietzsche -
hmm... I'd have to have my Adcom sold before I could afford that Carver. Damn, it'd be nice, though. Thanks for pointing that out, CLLudicrous gibs!

My budget is... as cheap as I can get away with. I was originally thinking that I'd be hanging on to my Adcom for other uses, but now I think I should probably sell it first, then replace it with something better. That'd ease the pain a bit.Ludicrous gibs!

I LOVE amps with meters myself as well, the lower numbered TFM amps from Carver would be a great choice for someone on a limited budget ( I have a TFM-35X and 4 mono Silver seven amps...all with VU meters )
I also like the Proton AA-1150 and the D1200...I think their analog meters are my personal favorite , and you can buy different colored backlights for them now as well ( I kept my pair of AA-1150's green and changed my pair of D1200's to blue ) .
Here are the specs and 2 pics of when I installed blue led's into my friends D1200. You can see inside the D1200 that it is a totally dual mono design...the left and right sides are mirrored...you can even see the dual transformers in the rear of the pic.
You can sometime find killer deals on ebay ...right now there are 2 of them going for 500 each  I paid 250 for one of mine and 400 for the other ( I wanted matching D1200's and another clean one showed up so I pounced...so basically like 325 each for the pair of them )
The analog VU meters on both the Carvers and the Protons are sweet
I totally forgot , but in this pic showing the 2 different color Protons ( A green AA-1150 and the Blue modified D1200 ) there is also my friends Carver TFM-35X that we put BLUE lights in his Carver as well
I didnt like the Blue lights in my TFM-35X , so I put back in the standard white lights in mine. The Blue in the Carver was way too dim....the Blue in the Protons is awesome. The first rule of Fight Club is you don't talk about Fight Club -
I've got a Carver M-500 that I've been thinking about letting go of. BIG meters on the front, 251 watts@8 ohms, says it's stable to 2 ohms and bridgeable. I'm not in a real hurry to sell, if you are interested I can wait 'til you sell your Adcom. Let me know if you'd like pictures or more info. I'd much rather sell it to a local Polkie then go through all the E-bay crap...Wristwatch--->Crisco

Man those Proton amps are sweet. I saw one on ebay yesterday and wondered if they sounded as good as they look. Nice.

I had 2 Proton D 1200's for years. Bought them new in the 80's. They were great amps. They do have a BUNCH of headroom, and the sound was great. I went into the HT scene, and sold my D 1200's on ebay several months ago. The 100 watt output is deceiving because this amp will put out a lot more than that for short bursts. And yes, I loved those big meters!Sunfire Theater Grand IV
