Deciding on speakers?

Hey guys I am trying to decide on a new speaker setup. I have a pioneer vsx-818v receiver and am piecing together a new system. I went to best buy and listened to the Polk TSI 400 floor speakers and liked them better than the Klipsch floor speakers. My question is I really want floor speakers and have done enough research to make my head spin. I can still find the Polk RTI speakers on Amazon for cheaper, are they better than the TSI series? I am looking to spend about 300 apiece on the fronts. Is there any other suggestions that I am overlooking? I want the 5.1 system but I really like listening to music on them more than anything. Thanks

Although the TSi series is good, the RTi series is better so definately go with that if you can swing it. $300/speaker will buy you a pair of RTi10s and a CSi5 which will be a great setup. I just upgraded from the Monitor series (similar to TSi) to the RTi and it was a good decision especially giving the clearance prices of the RTi line right now.KEF Q150 | Rythmik F12 | Yamaha Aventage RX-A780

I actually picked up a pair of RTi 10's at tweeter for 418 +tax 2 weeks ago and love them! I also picked up the CSIa4 center adn am very happy with it. I was watching Blackhawk down and when the gravel is kicking up all over it sounds like someone is dumping it on the ground right in front of me. I'm sure someone on here has a pair for sale and if not check out tweeter b/c they are trying to get rid of them. good luck!Samsung 58" 650 Plasma

Well I went and bought the tsi400 from best buy. Sounded really nice but I am already having a problem with them. When listening to a cd through my hd dvd player the right speaker crackles really bad. The left sounds perfect but the right sounds like crap. Anyone have any suggestions or should i just return it?

Double check your connections from source to AVR and AVR to speakers. Also, try switching the left and right speaker with each other.Living Room:....................

Zone 2 (Workout Room):

The same thing happened with my RTi10s, but it turned out to be the receiver. I had just gotten the new receiver and hooked it up and the right channel crackled. i swapped out speakers and it turns out that anything played on that channel had a crackle. i disconnected and reconnected everything and had the same problem. Now that box is on its way back to harman kardon!
On the contrary, i got an RTi8 a couple weeks ago that had a crackle (used on a different receiver) and in that case it turned out to be the speaker (that one is the mail on the way back to J&R!).
So that proved that it can be either case, so just use the process of elimination to figure out which one is causing the trouble.KEF Q150 | Rythmik F12 | Yamaha Aventage RX-A780 -
Found it! It was a loose speaker wire on that speaker. All I did was tighten it up and it went away. Glad it was something simple. Thanks
