Okay to run CSi5 and RTi4 on large?

I read a couple posts where people where bi-amping these speakers and getting tremendous response. This is especially the case with the RTi4 where it was being run as a rull range speaker with a lot of wattage and it performed well despite the small size. Have any of you had a comparable experience?

    Not sure - hopefully someone will chime in.

    Although I'm reading in some other threads that bi-amping may not give you much audible improvement if you have a substantial amp driving your speakers to begin with.

    I run my CSi3 and RTI4s as "large" on my avr with the CSi3 driven by the avr and the RTI4s with a "thumpin good" 200watt/channel amp - and it sounds good to me! :D

    However, I am not an audio guru nor do I play one on the internet ;)

    H9: If you don't trust what you are hearing, then maybe you need to be less invested in a hobby which all the pleasure comes from listening to music.

    Great! So the speakers handle the power like champs?

    If i get 2 UPA-7s, each RTi4 will be getting up to 250 W :eek: Might make more sense to find a pair of LPA-1s and use the 50 w channels to bi-amp the RTi4s and save some cash.

    I guess my main concern is making sure that the RTi4s dont distort with all that power going to them.

    I'm not sure :eek: Maybe i should just try 1 amp for starters and see what I think about that! I tend to be a very curious question (hence me asking about 20 questions on similar topics in the last week) so I will always wonder what bi-amping will sound like. Unless i just get 2 amps and use them I will always be curious. Gotta squash the upgrade bug early :D

    Consideirng the good prices i got on all the RTis and the affordability of the Emotiva amps, I'm trying to put myself into a position where the cost of upgrading from what i have will be too prohibitive to consider it, therefore saving money in the long run. Is that a lame excuse or what? :cool:

    Rti 4's are very easy to push. No need to bi-amp.

    Makes sense to me. At least that's the way I justify my purchases to my wife ;)

    I wouldn't run these on large unless I did not have a subwoofer. I run my LS 90's on small and they are, well quite large.

    You could run an equalizing program to see which provides the best response. I think Hometheatershack.com has a forum dedicated to some program called REW (room equalizing wizard) to see whether running them Large or Small provide the flattest response.
