Okay to run CSi5 and RTi4 on large?

I read a couple posts where people where bi-amping these speakers and getting tremendous response. This is especially the case with the RTi4 where it was being run as a rull range speaker with a lot of wattage and it performed well despite the small size. Have any of you had a comparable experience?

Not sure - hopefully someone will chime in.

Although I'm reading in some other threads that bi-amping may not give you much audible improvement if you have a substantial amp driving your speakers to begin with.

I run my CSi3 and RTI4s as "large" on my avr with the CSi3 driven by the avr and the RTI4s with a "thumpin good" 200watt/channel amp - and it sounds good to me! :D

However, I am not an audio guru nor do I play one on the internet ;)

Great! So the speakers handle the power like champs?

If i get 2 UPA-7s, each RTi4 will be getting up to 250 W  Might make more sense to find a pair of LPA-1s and use the 50 w channels to bi-amp the RTi4s and save some cash.

I guess my main concern is making sure that the RTi4s dont distort with all that power going to them.

Just how loud to you plan on listening?

I'm not sure  Maybe i should just try 1 amp for starters and see what I think about that! I tend to be a very curious question (hence me asking about 20 questions on similar topics in the last week) so I will always wonder what bi-amping will sound like. Unless i just get 2 amps and use them I will always be curious. Gotta squash the upgrade bug early :D

Consideirng the good prices i got on all the RTis and the affordability of the Emotiva amps, I'm trying to put myself into a position where the cost of upgrading from what i have will be too prohibitive to consider it, therefore saving money in the long run. Is that a lame excuse or what?

Rti 4's are very easy to push. No need to bi-amp.

Makes sense to me. At least that's the way I justify my purchases to my wife ;)

I wouldn't run these on large unless I did not have a subwoofer. I run my LS 90's on small and they are, well quite large.

You could run an equalizing program to see which provides the best response. I think Hometheatershack.com has a forum dedicated to some program called REW (room equalizing wizard) to see whether running them Large or Small provide the flattest response.
